They make you think that the power rates are going to skyrocket and surpass current rates. So they get you to sign up today for a higher fixed rate, trying to convince you that rates will eventually go beyond that, so you will be saving in the end. I was offered a five year contract, which I did not sign. In the meantime, rates have actually gone down, so people that did sign up have huge PUC bills. I know a few that regret signing, and have tried to get out of contracts, with no avail.

they were here today at the door said sorry we ever signed up for that its 600 dollars to get out of the contract and the bills are almost doubled to what we were paying they are F%# rip offs.

yes u can use another name than you will get out of it thats what we did. dont anybody do it.

Of course they are going to be pushy, they make money each time someone signs up. I had the opportunity to talk with a couple of them one day, they seemed nice enough, but they certainly don't care how they get you to sign. They are from out of town, usually southern Ontario so they don't have to see you later.

I feel badly as well for all of those who signed, especially the elderly who thought they were "nice young people".......my Mom got suckered too.

Thats what they pray on people who do not know yet. Thankfully they are getting fewer and fewer now.

Just lookup "Energy Contracts" on Goggles and try and find a good thing.

You may find law suits though.

If they just won't go away, just sign up and then a day or 2 later call the 800 number on the yellow slip and tell them you want to cancel. I've done this twice now. They'll tell you that Direct Energy whatever company it is has to actually contact you before the contract is actually valid. Could always tell them that you're already signed up... but don't show them your PUC bill. Or better yet... just don't answer the door

Thats risky with Direct Energy ,they are a company charged with defrauding customer Linky , so them saying that they never received your cancellation call is not big stretch for a out fit like that.

PUC is Definitely not "with them"

I just put the run on anyone who tries to sell me crap at the door , these jokers or those Saturday doorknockeroners.

I just checked my PUC bill that I received today. It was $105. The rate per kWh (kilowatt hour) is 5 cents for the first 1000 kWh. I used about 960 kWh. If you go over that, it is 5.9 cents per kWh.

When one of those companies offered me a contract, their rate was 8.5 cents per kWh. So if I had signed up, my bill would be higher right now. Scam artists.
