Default anyone planning on going on a diet in the newyear?

I need a good motivator to help me stay on a diet. I tried the south beach last spring and due to lack of motivation, I couldn't stick to it. Mind you it would help if I stopped buying snacks and stuff. My one vice right now is wine. I'm not an alki but I do like to enjoy a glass of wine or two. I'm trying to lose some weight, I don't have alot to lose but 20lbs would be good and it seems to be the hardest to lose. Maybe even starting a diet/walking club with soonet people would be a good idea if people are interested. Its good motivation.

Diets have never worked and never will,
A change of life style is the only thing that works, and the simple way to do it is just donít buy any foods that arenít healthy.

When you have three kids and an overweight husband those kinds of foods just seem to find a way into the house.

Who says I buy it all the time? Just because I'm female doesn't mean I do all the grocery shopping if that's what your getting at. If I don't buy it he does! I can't tell him what to buy and what not to, just like he can't tell me what not to buy and what to. What I have to try and do is get him on my side so we are both working at losing weight at the same time!

yeah my b/f and I shop together, who says the woman has to do all the shopping? and if he wants to put something in the cart I can't really say no, he's an adult and he eats what he wants, unfortunately those things are just so tasty that they find a way into my belly!

Hey my wife hates grocery shopping and I love it so it works for me, the extent of out bad food in the house is one box of cookies every two weeks. but I can't stop her from getting stuff at the corner store. Until your ready to change you are not going to.

there's nothing wrong with a chocolate bar once in a while, moderation is key....

    consistency is key with exercise...

Yeah we know about the south beach. It works good if I have the motivation to stay on it but like I said if people around me are eating stuff I can't have then thats when I want it the most! EIther everyone has to watch what they eat or I have to move to a convent for a few months! A little extreme I know but I have little to no willpower.

I've been following the Weight Watcher's point system...it's working for me...you can eat & drink everything as long as you stay within your daily points allowance and include your basic food groups daily and drink your 8 glasses of water...exercise is very important as well...

Cutting back on pasta and definitely breads is key too. Bread is a big one for a lot of people.

Increasing your exercise and decreasing the amount of food you eat is a HUGE key too (i.e. Take ONE plate of food, not 6).

If you're still hungry eat lots of salad (fruit & veg) with very little dressing...or soup.

Oh the pasta thing for me is the KILLER...I try to keep it as healthy as possible by eating only organic, natural pasta, rice, etc

What about whole wheat pasta? I've been trying to eat that when we have pasta for supper instead of the regular, is it much better or am I only kidding myself?
