thanks alot but im not quite sure with my bad balance if thats apprpriate for me... i was looking along the lines of these 2 and ive seen a few roofing postings but i dont know.
Have you taken some sort of schooling for this? If not most places won't take you on without it anymore. If your still on assistance talk to them, because they will pay for certain trade courses at the college.

no can do, even if i got schooling for it you still NEED an apprentice to sign you on. meaning i cant go straight into an apprentice course into college without a company sponsoring me.
and there are some that will train with no schooling so
i just like easy going employers not picky ones. i mean a guy would like a chance at working and learning but isnt given the chance... i just cant figure out why they make it so hard
i know this is all a game but i will NOT stress myself out to the point it will bother my health to get a job or a chance. i do my part and i stay where i am until i get something, bottom line
Cause time is money and they don't want to hire anyone that isn't totally on the ball and can't give it 110%, can you blame them??
I think you need a Hamburlger alarm clock that slowly drags a quarter pounder from your bedside table into the shower to get you out of bed and awake in the morning so it would be possible to look for a job when other normal people do!
You've talked the talk, now WALK THE WALK!! ..Talking about it will get you absolutely NOWHERE!!

lol how can you say i wont be good? these past few weeks i am pounding the pavement to be given a simple chance that employers dont give out, how does a guy learn something if he isnt given a chance, its sickening really. you cant be prejudgemental on someone by what he posts on here. and yes i do bring resumes around when normal people do and if they arent looking for anyone they arent looking for anyone i cant force myself into a job

i did walk the walk and still same result, keep calling in i told them straight up i want to learn and they still said call back so its out of my hands
its just too bad you need to RELY on someone else to work.
lots of problems may come from this
Did you go see the Plumbers Union ?
I know 2 people who started a Plumbing Apprenticeship this week and there looking for a few more.
Go to the Union first then go see Huckson Bros , S&T Group and Mcleod.s

i just brought a resume to the union yesterday and called them today, they told me to call back in 3 weeks??? i said i really wanted to go into it and they still said to call back, so do i have to go looking for an employer myself or what they said they will train at the union
What about the general laborers union? You should try them too. Good luck with your job searching!
pretty sad though im hoping someone drops out so i can take their spot
It will be quicker if you find a Employer that will sponsor you.

ummmm how will a potential employer hire me if i got no experience??? i show up at their door with no experience at all how are they gonna take a chance on me? and where would one go for bricklayer and such?
Algoma Steel uses brick layers for furnace maintenance/rebuilds.
i5 2500K at 5.0 Ghz, OCZ Vertex 4 256 GB, Corsair M4 256 GB, 2 x MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC, 2 x 4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X F3, Corsair 600T, Samsung 2443BW, Asus PB278Q 2560x1440
Well I never thought I would post a reply in any off this guy's threads but something happened today that has irked me all afternoon. Last week at a jobsite we were talking about the way things were years and years ago when guys would come to the construction sites looking for the formen or supervisors or just 'the boss'. They were looking for work, they had their boots on and hardhats and gloves, safety glasses etc., just plain ready to go right then and there. They usually got work that day, for the day, for the week and then they were on the next project full time. No one has seen anybody show up like that in recent memory, and I only remember one in 1998 at a highschool addition.
So today this fellow who was working at a current project goes to me 'are you looking for some help?"
Of Course says I.
He tells me he knows a 'good guy' who just came back from a course and is looking. After asking a couple of questions cuz the guy is near 50 years old turns out hes never had a job and has been on ontario works or welfare or w/e its called.
Now, he's almost 50 and supposedly looking for work. Who is gonna give this guy a 'chance' a chance???? I don't get this concept of a 'chance' when a life is squandered how could I in all seriousness possibly risk, and I mean risk it all, on such a long shot.
Don't be this guy, if there is a lapse in your work history fill it up with volunteer work, flip burgers, mow lawns, anything!
You want someone to look at you, give them something to look at. Hiring someone is a big risk a risk to your business, your reputation, customers, other employees, workers compenstion costs
lots of stuff. Its too big a gamble to take on somebody that has not done anything for a period of time that is not like 16yrs old or something, someone in their late twenties or thirties or whatever on social assistance suddenly looking for work says accident waiting to happen, comp case, premiums goin up. Get some work activity in your resume.
If you lend someone $20 and never see them again, It was probably worth the 20
The best way to get a plumbing apprenticeship is to start out as a plumber's helper and work your A$$ off. When you prove that you're worth their time, then they might take a chance on you.
If you can't do roofing, then you won't cut it as a bricklayer.
mr ed, great post.
