actually roofing companies dont just need people on the roof, they need people on the ground cleaning up the mess.. SO.... Try that on for size.

Best way to get a GOOD job, is to have a job. Your resume needs to show that you are a go getter and willing to do whatever it takes. Yours unfortunately shows that you'd rather leach off taxpayers than work for low pay. Not good. But good luck.

thanks Starter.. yesterday was quite bsuy for me i pounded the pavement sending resumes and asking for work at every masonry and plumbing place in town, but to no avail as i got not even one offer of employemnt. yeah i gave my nicely updated resume and references, no go. Half the small companies i had asked said they were full already and saturated, but the ones who seemed to be bigger companies either gave me pointers, suggestions or didnt get back to me yet at all. So, what i did so far was send a resume out by email to the steel plant regarding a potential apprentice offer for Bricklayer, but still need to wait for that. Hopefully by Monday something comes of it.

I had also messaged Hucksons for a plumber apprentice, but no reply yet, but hopefully Monday.

I was talking to one of the owners of DNM plumbing and he fully understood my situation. Stating that it is very hard to find a sponsor that will take you on to leanr and teach you from scratch. I must say that not many employers nowdays are willing to do this, good or bad. I think its bad cause they dont give people a chance to learn and go into an apprentice. its not like one can go straight into plumbing at school or sault college, you still need a sponsor first. And as the guy stated the governments fault that this is happening. They should offere WElder, Electrician, Plumber, Bricklayer, IronWorker all these trades for free at sault college to fill their trade needs. The guy from DNM also stated that he had to go out of town to Toronto to gain some experience before coming back here to finish his apprentice, which is kinda sad.

So, I firmly believe i did my part so far the only problem now is no on is gonna take a chance on me, which is definitely out of my hands as much as i wanna learn a new trade.

I find it pretty sickening how i bring around 10 resumes 4 days straight poun the pavement and not get one offer.

Anyways, cant expect much more from the Sault i guess.

You cant take a trades course at college unless you have a sponsor first

Tell the guy from DNM he is full of [censored]. He can hire apprentices, get a tax break for that, and send people to Sault College so they can get their ticket.
What he wants is trades people without having to spend a dime on it.

No, certain companies are offering apprenticeships as part of their collective agreement.

That's because you did not meet the requirements to get hired then.

i didnt meet the requirements? How does one get any experience if they are never given a chance. Like i said, i cannot go to school for these trades, i still need a sponsor first. Thats just a lame excuse for stingy businesses not wanting to take a chance on a new person

the governemnt screwed up, they should of offered ALL trades for free at sault college like the Millwright course i was in before, but more of a selection like Plumber, Electrician, Mechanic, Carpenter, IronWorker, WElder or what not. this is why now i find myself not knowing exactly what i want to go into what trade i wanna do and i have no experience, cause i had to just blindly pick one with no experience, bunch of BS

You do not understand what I just said. The requirements are usually some kind of diploma or equivalent experience directly related to the position you apply for. If you were a graduate from Sault college for their electrical technologist program, you would have a job with an apprenticeship by Monday morning.

And that's exactly the reason why they do this : so they don't end up paying for schooling without you finishing it because you do not know what you want.
