And I don't even have high school in this country and yet have a high paying job in this city. But lets concentrate on the average cases and not the oddball exceptions.

So now you want plumbing instead of bricklayer?

Is bricklaying and plumbing a regulated trade?

no way, trades people i know of that went through the union got in with none of that, and i know people that did too. </div></div>

maybe back in the day but now you should take the course because they have a bunch of people who did take the course to choose from so why pick someone who didn't do it?

taking the course is another way for the government to rip money from you expanidng the course over 3 years, besides all the math involved its really unnecessary when there something they could just treach you on the job. I understand for Electrical yes it may be better to go to school first but not for Plumber or Bricklayer, cause there is no attached course to go with it.

Good job getting your resumes out there Mooch. The reality is you'll hardly ever get a call within days of giving a resume to an employer. First they need to actually have an immediate need and be ready to hire. I'd suggest you try to stay patient. If nothing happens in the next month, I'll gave you my blessing to complain.

Give the employers that you gave resumes to a quick call after 2 weeks goes by, ask, politely if they have had an opportunity to review your resume and if they call tell you anything about their future hiring plans. If you're not being a pest and calling every day, employers like that. Your continued interest can give you an edge over the next guy.

But rest assured, what you did in the last few days is a good, positive step.

I am sure plumbing is a regulated trade, and yes, you will need math to determine angles, bends and measurements.

don't ask me why it's like that. it just is. it may seem unnecessary to you but it will save them a lot of time training you plus it shows them that you know what you want to do cause you already took the course. there must be some kind of course available. there was when i went to college i'm sure. i remember cause of all the guys in that wing of the school and my psych class got moved there. it was the only class with girls in it..lol

so... then the Water Environmental course at Sault College would go with that? Thats pretty sad cause the plumbers and bricklayers from old school had no schooling whatsoever and still leanbed the trade from scratch, now its all about making money off people at school thingy.

I am not going to argue about this anymore. It's clear all you want to do is complain that things should be the way you want it.
I said what I had to say, now it's up to you to draw your conclusions out of that.

Just try to avoid getting to pessimistic along the way Mooch. Chin up, stay positive. Most people can tell the difference between a positive and a negative person over the phone. Giving up will never get you a job.

so what youre saying is I have to take a 3 year course at college with Calculus and all that fun math while past people learned it from scratch with no schooling? thats pretty weird
I just dont think its necessary really as much as they wanna force it on you. I just think its a government conspiracy to keep the teachers working.

I dont know what you mean because there is no course that relates to a Bricklayer apprenticeship.
