Has anyone else read this nightmare.
It seems more and more kids are being violated
and nothing seems to brother these types of abusers.
I think it is time to take a stronger stand for the children of our City.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

A 22 year old male has been charged with 2 counts of sexual assault, 2 counts of sexual interference and 1 count of invitation to sexual touching. It is believed that between March 1998 and December 1999 the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted two females under the age of 12 years. It is also believed that the accused again sexually assaulted the same two females between January 2002 and December 2003. The accused was babysitting the two females at the time of all the assaults. The accused will be appearing in court on the 8th of July.

In March 1998, it appears the one charged with assault would be 12 years old.

Barry I didn't notice the age thing. That's right it was nearly 10 years ago so the boy would have been a boy.
Not that it makes it right don't get me wrong.

When I ran an ad recently for a babysitter for my little girl this summer, I had an email response from a male teenager. He began his email with, "I'm sure this may seem a bit creepy to you, but...."

It may be a double standard and I may seem to be over-protective (if that's possible) but I just don't think a male teenager should babysit a little girl. This teen was right about one thing. It was creepy to read that email and although he may have honourable intentions now, I would rather not put my daughter in a situation that could go horribly wrong and I could not live with myself having violated her trust should that happen. Am I too paranoid? I don't think so.

I used a male babysitter for my son... but it was my step sisters brother! lol... i would never trust a man to watch my kids...

with that said... years ago... my parents had a male babysitter for my brother and me... he didnt do anything to us... he just ended up breaking into our house and stealing all our stuff!!! lol.

It may be different for me if the male teen was known to me, someone I've known for a while. The reply I received this time was from someone I didn't know from a hole in the ground and even with references I wouldn't be able to shake the "what if's". It is too bad for male teens, I suppose. They deserve to earn some cash from a summer job too. Just won't be from THIS employer.

holy stereotyping, females can be assaulters just as easy, and i at one time was a teenaged male babysitter.

I don't think the sex of a sitter should matter, girls are and can be sex abusers, just as easily as boys. Speaking
from experience in our community Social programs, as an employee, mind you it's been a few years.
Crime is always committed by both sexes.

It just seems every few days, another child comes forward and assaults of this nature never seem to decrease is what I meant when using the words, " running rapid threw our City".

Oh, i agree with miles though... why even put a child in a situation that might turn out badly.

i guess i am just old fashioned that way!

We had one male sitter for our two oldest and I found out many years later that he had molested both my son and daughter, then then seven and five respectively. It is upsetting to this day thirty years later. He was known quite well by us and live just doors away. Unfortunately when I discovered what he'd done he was dead from a car accident. Had I been able to lay my hands on him I would have nailed his scrotum to a stump, pushed him over backwards and pulled out a rusty tin can lid to set him free.

Unfortunately sexual abuse can be from any gender and many abused victims are likely to be assaulted by people who were familiar or well known by them. It is disgusting how the minds of these people work. It is hard to keep kids safe, that's for sure!

Unfortunatly in most of their minds they are thinking the same as we are...ONLY difference is...they are attracted to kids...like the rest of us are attracted to the opposite sex..Or the same sex for that matter..

And in most cases like this the pursuer is also a victim ...From something same sorts when they were younger as well..


Im not trying to defend anyone... And yes I would much rather watch them skin the idiot that hurt me alive then have him rot in jail like he is going to now..Considering he is a repeat offender and has just done it again...


I just hope that he never gets back out..
I don't feel safer knowing he is gone away again...I feel even worse knowing the tramtic effect this is going to take on those children..

All I can do is DO my very best...Make sure my children are WELL aware of what is out there...and WHO could do it to them...Its not always the strangers you have to worry about...

It is also where their manipulation and deciet comes into it as well that makes their minds disgusting. Not only are children affected by the assaults but by the lies these characters come up with in order to trap them and keep their secret. Many telling them, It's their fault. How scary.
