Default Is this stupid or what?

Yesterday was my birthday and I wanted to go celebrate at the bar that has no roof..I just turned 46 and I didn't have my purse with me. I didn't think, it would be a problem, since I'm not exactly a teeny bopper.Boy was i wrong..when we got to the door, The bouncer, would not let me in, without seeing my id, even though, I told him that I just turned 46 today. The people i was with, said,"Why don't you go back home and get your id" I said, If i do, I'm not coming back here.I was so mad and ended up going to Reggies, and were able to just walk in.

That is not unusual at all. When I worked at a Casino, we had the right to refuse anyone who didn't have ID on them, regardless of age.

Acceptable forms of age identification include:
1. Ontario driver's licence with a photo;
2. Canadian passport with a photo;
3. Canadian citizenship card with a photo;
4. Canadian armed forces card with a photo;
5. Liquor Control Board of Ontario BYID photo card.

Without anyone of these types of ID, any establishment has the right to refuse to serve alcohol to anyone.

I was out with the girls about a month or so ago, can't remember which stop but we all got ID'd. Me being the youngest of the bunch and holding strongly to 29 I was quite surprised. The bouncer explained that soon all the bars would be requesting ID from their patrons prior to entering, some new bylaw/law and if they are caught not asking for it they will be charged.

Simba, whether intentionally or not, I believe you have created the next great saying!!!!

I get ID'ed ALL the time. Any bar I go to. It is not very convenient when your ID is stolen. I did not have ID for several weeks after my purse was stolen and it sucked. My friends usually have no problem getting into the bar and they are all in their 20's but I am 38 for God's sake! I would take it as a compliment, comming from someone who unknowingly ID'ed a 30+ year old woman for smokes when I could have swore she was under 25. Some women dont age as much as others and the same can be said for guys. My boss laughs at me for some of the people I ID but its really only saves my as$. Knowing my luck, I wont ID someone who is 18 but looks older and then get fired for serving under the legal age.

In all seriousness, most women find it a compliment when you ID them, whether its to buy smokes to go to a bar to drink.

I take it as a compliment when someone thinks I'm younger then I really am. Had it happen to me a few weeks ago, they thought I was only 18. I laughed and told them to add another 10 yrs pushing 11 yrs to that, they didn't believe me at first.

Went to a concert in Toronto and a buddy of mine presented his ID, it was expired so they wouldn't serve him. So we had to buy him all the drinks all night.

I was at this same roof less bar last year and was asked for ID. I was shocked and very happy to show him my ID and that I was over 30 years old.
I took it as a huge compliment and damn near wanted to take the guy home with me.

Sure take it as a compliment. But what has happened to our freedoms and basic common sense. A 46 year old need a piece of ID to go into an establishment?! We need ID to buy cigarettes, lotto tickets and booze. Is it really just a drivers license we carry now or is your more like gov't ID that we need just to live in Canada. How did mankind every survive for the last ten thousand years without a government to take care of us like ours?

HERE HERE!! I've worked in the bars for a few years, mostly in Alberta but in a couple of the bars here as well since i've moved back, one in particular boasting a 75 flavour wing menu *ahem* and the only one that had that rediculoous rule was the wing place... it was owned by the same family as the roofless bar, and a certain pool hall has always been the same way.

It's rediculous. Honestly, even if the lquor inspector does come into the estabishment, do you honestly believe he or she is going to request ID from someone who is visibly well over the age of majority? Or for that matter, expect the establishment to demand ID from that person? I totally understand IDing if you are uncertain, and have IDed people that have actually been cause for embarrassment (one was 38! I hope and pray someday i can pull that one off!!) but this is getting rediculous. as KOSS said, it is a right we hav as adults to comsume alcohol and purchase cigarettes, and I think the government is pushing its boundaries with these rediculous rules and bylaws.

Speaking of which, has anyone heard about the new bordertown ID they're creating? want to know if its myth or fact....?
