Default 2008-2009 NHL Season

The season opener for Detroit and Toronto is October 9th, at the Joe.

I've got the Wings winning by seventeen goals.

Anyone care to wager?

I think leaf fans will be taking on the chin again this year.
All the moves and changes...no way, not for a while.
Detroit should be in the east.
There is a better chance to nurture the old rivalries

I agree Jack. The Leafs have done nothing to bolster a minor league line-up. Unless they perform some type of trade before too long, they will again be cellar dwellers. They still have cap room for more signings, but who?
As for Detroit being in the west, instead of the east. That always baffled me. The league took away some great long time rivalries. Toronto-Detroit, Montreal-Detroit, New York Rangers-Detroit. Its a shame what the league does to try and make this sport work in the United States. They thought the Wings would pack the rinks in the west, but they came short on that feat, even in thier own rink.
IT WILL NEVER BE LIKE CANADIAN HOCKEY in the USA.

I'll agree with that.
It would help hockey for the most part to have Detroit in the East.
Those rivalries are important. To overlook them means someone doesn't understand.
There is no pot of gold in the US for hockey.
The changes made to try and bait this new audience hasn't worked and has hurt the game for the most part and ruined it for the purest.
Personally it has become watered down and a lot less appealing.
The rivalries would help most mediocre league games.

And it will never be like American basketball in Canada?

What's your point?

We don't need to screw you over, your crumbling hockey program in Canada does it for us!

Wanna be.
Canadian hockey is just fine.
No one listens to a wanna be.
Your lack of support proves it.
Blah, blah, blah.
My prediction: What ever team wins Stanley next year, Canada will be the leading contributor.
There will be more Canadians on the team, than any other country.

The trouble with the Maple Leaf are that no matter what kind of a team they have.....the crowds still show up.

Thats why I think they should have a NHL team in Hamilton so they can give the leafs a run for their money.

But as long as the dwarf Bettman is in there we won't see it.He just wants to get hockey into the USA whether the people like it or not.

Why he tries to shove it up Americans noses when they don't want to go. Is beyond me

No, the word is loser.
You and Chester, always worried about the important stuff.
Your buttons stick out so far you look like a porcupine.

How do you figure that?
You made a statement you can't back up.
