"The Belgian National Bank said its business confidence indicator in July fell to minus 7.6 from minus 5.9 in June.
Economists polled by Thomson Financial News had projected a decline to minus 7.0 in July.
'July brought a decline in the National Bank of Belgium's gross overall synthetic curve, confirming the deterioration in the business climate that has been observed for some months now,' the bank said.
Confidence in the manufacturing sector fell to minus 8.1 from minus 6.4 in June, while construction rose to minus 0.6 from minus 2.7 and trade fell to minus 12.5 from minus 6.8."
