Default best way to cook a prime rib roast?

wondering what would be the best way to cook one. heard it should be high heat at first then turn heat down. Should it be marinated first? any recipes appreciated.

No need to marinate, I do mine at about 400 and I cook it well, cause I hate bloody. Cook it till it's where your comfortable.

I season mine with garlic and onion powder and let it go.

Just don't add water to the pan, and don't cover it. It will steam instead of roast. I roast mine at 325F. I just rub a bit of oil over it, season it, and put it into a cast iron skillet in the oven. Just don't forget to use oven mitts. The handle is handy to pick it out of the oven, and after you remove the roast, you can make the gravy right on your stovetop in the pan.
We like med-rare, I use a meat thermometer, and I take the roast out when it's the right internal temp.

My mother makes a good prime rib. She cooks it at a higher heat for about 20mins then lowers it to the regular roasting temp for the required amount of time for a roast. Let it sit for a bit afterwards before cutting, make gravy right in the roaster on the stove from the pan drippings. MMmmmm

A crock pot roast is for a cheaper cut of meat not prime rib!
