Default Is there a homeschool group in the Sault?

I have heard there is, but I am curious if they are active in doing fieldtrips etc. Also wondering if all the homeschoolers are religious? The other thread got me curious!!

Hey there. Most of us are christians, but there are a few out there that homeschool for non-religious reasons. I know Hyperbabola on here is one of them, but I don't know how often she comes around anymore. There is al kinds of stuff, field trips, swimming, soccer, gymnastics, art, potlucks, etc, but again most are christian based. You don't have to be a christian to be involved, but you need to expect that most others are and talk about it freely.
I am not merely a mass of molecules, incoherently careening through time and space. I am a child of God, destined for another world, a world before which this one pales in significance. Our spiritual preparation for the next world is to be the priority of this life.

Hi Jackie!

Hyperbabbola isn't around much, but I breezed through here this morning and saw this thread.

Jackie is right, I homeschool for non-religious reasons, and the number of people in the Sault doing so is growing. We are in the minority for sure, but are increasing in number year by year. Because we are a smaller group, we aren't involved in scheduled, structured activities, but tend more towards informal group outings. But we do get together and are always looking for more homeschooling friends!

In the past, the families homeschooling for reasons other than religion have tried to participate in activities with the other homeschoolers, and it has just not worked out well. Jackie is a rare exception in that she even acknowledges our existence, let alone treats us nicely.
