    Default Miracles

For the believers, it clearly states in the Holy Bible there are faith healers who work through God, for non believers there had never been any tangible proof it's occurred.

My question is this: How would one know a miracle occurred if but only the person on the receiving end says it's so, and how do you define "Miracle"?

According to people who claim to have received a miracle it has been described many different ways.

    Indeed, where?? And "clearly", too!!

I have seen some extraordinary events that I have considered to be miracles. But others think that they are not.

    It's not that important.

Then re-state your opening post, or change it.

You said: "...it clearly states in the Holy Bible there are faith healers who work through God.."

    It does not.

Don't "quote" the bible without chapter and verse.

Alright, so your question is "What is a miracle"?

I think that's an important question, because on these so called faith healer's TV shows that we see today a la Benny Hinn, Popov and others, we see a lot of "claims" to miracles.

I must say that I have never seen what I would term a true and/or verifiable miracle. I have seen answers to prayer that I would regard as God's intervention and would loosely term miraculous, but not in the strict sense of the word.

A miracle would be something that is supernatural. Not just the disappearance of a headache or toothache, but a crippled person being made whole, for instance. Or an amputee getting his limb back, or a parapalegic who is in a chair one moment and on his feet the next.

There are miracles that are difficult to verify. A person has cancer., He prays or someone else prays for him and the next day he goes to the doctor who cannot explain why the cancer has disappeared. Doctors will tell you that these things happen. Doctors call it remission. But why the same day or shortly after prayer takes place?

The skeptic will always call it coincidence. Tell that to the person who was healed.

    I agree with you Bluesky.

When Benny Hinn was here a few years back, I wasn't much impressed. But when three people I knew from the Sault got up to testify of healing, one of whom I knew had been bound to a wheelchair, it did give pause to think.

I once saw a man writhing in pain froma broken ankle, sit up immediately after prayer and laying on of hands and tell us the pain was gone. Some big eyes in THAT crowd of (mostly) unbelievers, you can bet.

There was another old fellow in a wheelchair I knew who was told by a televangelist to put his hands on the TV and accept a healing. Last time I saw the old fellow was running across Great Northern Road. The story was told to me by a non-bleiever relative, who just didn't understand, but he KNEW somthing had happened.

Miracles?? Maybe. I'll give God the credit anyway, cause that's where it belongs in ANY healing.

OMFGOODNESS .... you are arguing about whether or not he quoted the bible.... heck dudes .. just answer the question.

Simple a miracle is something that can't be explained by natural or scientific methods.

Sorry, Madmax, sometimes these "bible scholars" tick me off.

"It clearly states...", then it hits the fan.

And you guys bash Catholics over something like Lourdes or Fatima.

    Unreal. Your hypocrisy is unreal.
