Trust me Makes sense.. My daughter used it last yr in gr1 and I ended up getting po'ed cause other kids were scribbling in it.. and I was suppose to sign it everynight with the note that came home in it.. and I ended up going in and telling the teacher that I paid 7 dollars for the book and my kid does not scribble in books at home and I was not going to allow for it at school.. so her classmate whom did it spent the day erasing the stuff they decided to destruct my kids aganda with...

TO Me its usless untill they learn to write properly and not have to rush at it...

I paid $6 last year for an agenda for JK. The agenda had weekly assignments that were assigned for homework and the students got stickers for completing their 'homework' each week. It became obvious after Christmas that the teacher no longer looked in the books as it came home on the same page for over a month and no stickers for the 'homework' were given for 3 weeks. We stopped using it. I really don't think they are necessary at that age level. They had a free fruit & veggie snack program that ran three days a week which did great things towards encouraging my son to eat vegetables and try new foods.

At his new school, no agenda and the milk program works out to about 70 cents each. My son is on a limited dairy diet so we won't be purchasing any milk through the school, though.

how did we all manage to make it through school without an agenda to tell us we had homework? i thought only special needs kids and kids with behaviour problems needed an agenda for parents to keep in contact with the teachers.

Milk program in schools is a awesome idea especially for the wee little ones! It is about time healthty lifestyle is pushed in school. You think it is a money grabber do not bother being involved with it! and do not snitch about it all over here...very simple solution to something that burns your butt!!!

My kids don't have to pay for their agendas this year. As for milk, I agree with Simba. My kids take juice boxes to school and can drink milk at home!

Our kids' school gives them fruit, veggies or cereal for the morning meal. They have two full meal breaks which I think it a great idea.

The prices of the things are governed by the population that attends that school. If the school has a lot of low income families then the cost of things are less than at other school. U until last year our children attended Holy Family. Now that theyare are St John there is a big difference in a lot of the things that go on and the cost of activities and supplies.

When I was a kid schools used to supply or pencils and notebooks. They are so underfunded right now that they have to make a buck in whatever way they can.

juice boxes are just as much a part of a healthy diet when you send em with the real fruit ones. i wouldn't want to spend a buck on one of those little milk things either but my kids don't drink milk so that doesn't effect me. it's funny how different schools in the same school board can charge such a different amount. ps, my mom works for the school board, the schools are only paying something like 25 or 30 cents for those milks, so why are some you paying over a dollar for them? hmmmm....

My kids rarely drink milk so it doesn't affect me either. They would much rather take juice (always real juice in our house) and they take yogurt to school. The only time I ever gave them money for milk at school was when I realized one morning that we were out of juice boxes and it was 7 in the morning lol.
