I just replaced the thermostat in my car (99 cavalier) It was taken out in the summer because the car was over heating. Now that snow is here, obviously i need heat in the car, but for some reason the car keeps over heating... even with the cold weather. My fiances step father is a heavy equipment mechanic and he said he thinks the water pump is shot, also some fan is not running. Since the water pump is expensive to fix, apparently... anyone know how much it would be to fix the fan ( the one thats supposed to cool down the engine) or would it even be worth fixing? The temp goes down when i am driving, but as soon as i am idling it starts creeping back up to the red zone. Please help! lol
