Nothing by Alpine that's only "a bit more $" will do what a Fusion Tube will do.
I haven't found anything anywhere that will even come close to the output of them for such a low price.
They will actually do rap ok (not as compared to a big 12" in a ported box, with several hundred watts,). We can get around 122dB out of a 10, which is not too bad for $200.

I have sold over 100 of these, and offer a one year no loss trade up to anything better in my shop, and only a few people have upgraded from the 10" to a 12" model. No-one has traded in their $199 sub for a bigger better package.
The only problem with them is that for trucks, they do take up too much space.

    Here ya go.
This item WILL have a bit better SQ than the Fusion, as long as you don't mind giving up some output, and almost twice as much $$.
Buy 2 of em, and they'd go almost as loud as the 12" Fusion which is $229, wires included.
Of course now you'd be in the price range of a real sub/amp combo...say a JL 10W3/ported box, 200 Watt amp.
I've been pestering the Fusion team in New Zealand to produce a truck box for a while now, but so far nothing. Maybe next year.

I bought an Alpine plt-5 (new) for $225. That's "a bit $ more" and IMO better than the fusion bass tube.

    That's cheap...too bad they are disco'd.
Did you ever try a Fusion tube ADD? I've heard the Alpine, and it's OK, but has nothing on the Fusion as far as SPL. And you had to add at least $50 for the wires, no?
    What kind of truck General?

Yes I have tried one. I wouldn't say I prefered something over it if I hadn't.

Right now I have two fusion 12'' powerplant subs, with the monoblock powerplant amp.

So I have nothing against fusion, but I'm not a fan of their tube.

That's a big jump from a bass tube lol.
Trucks suck for doing bass due to a lack of space. Some of the extended cabs can easily run over $1k to get a good fibreglass ported box under the rear seat, with amp and wiring etc.
Most guys stick to the cheaper sealed truck boxes, or settle with smaller woofers, like the Alpine.
The tubes are really better in the trunk of a car, where there's room to load 'em into the back corner. They work quite well with the port close to a tail light.

So in a full size truck, you wouldn't recommend a bass tube?

Depends on the budget, and space requirements.
Won't fit behind the seat in a regular cab, and most ext cabs would need to be on the seat, rather that under it.
That being said, I don't think there is anything available for $200 retail (not grey market) that will come remotely close to the sound of a Fusion tube.
You'll notice that even tho I've sold well over 100 units, there aren't a slew of them for sale used...people aren't in a hurry to dump them, like a lot of the other junk you see all the time in the classifieds.

And no...if you want my recommendation, a custom ported box (by me), a JL 10" with an amp, will get you as good as it gets. But like I said...it's up to $1k.

That's what I thought, when you said "A third seat".
I was kinda picturing a small, square ported box, with a JL 10, and a small amp for that vehicle. In a pinch, you could seat someone on the box, although you'd have to keep the volume down if they're wearing a skirt lol.
Seriously tho, the bass tube would still be the cheapest bang for the buck in there, unless you already have an amp.

One of my installers has a tube in their car, if you want to hear one in a vehicle. Have to stop in between 9 and 3 tho.
I do have one that you can try in your own truck before you buy it, if you can pop the deck out to connect it. Just need to clip it on your battery, and tap onto the deck's outputs. As long as you can afford the space, it'll thunp.
