Sault MI cab companies

Okay this has me steaming mad. My girlfriend catches a cab from my sons daycare to work and then from work to daycare when she is done. She has been using the same cab company for quite some time so I am sure they know that she needs to pick up our son before 4:00 at the latest. Today the cab came and picked her up at 3:30, proceeded to pick up another passenger with my g/f still in the cab, dropped off that fare, picked up another fare, dropped that fare off then finally dropped off my girlfriend at my sons daycare just before 4:00. Now if anyone is familiar with public transportation in Sault MI, they have Dial-A-Ride instead or buses on a fixed time schedule and route. She made a time call for one to pick her up at daycare and missed that time call because the cab company decided to double dip. So after missing the time call for Dial-A-Ride, she had to push a stroller home in about half a foot of snow home from daycare, which is about 1 mile.

I think that the cab companies shouldnt be able to "double dip" like that. You are paying the cab to pick you up and drop you off, not to pick up someone else, drop them off just to save on gas.

They charge you based on the distance. Its a set rate but its not like the cabs in Sault ON. They charge by distance rather than per KM

Yes......but in Sault ON, they charge based on 1/10th of a KM, unless things have changed. In Sault MI, they charge based on where you are picked up and where you are dropped off. Its a set rate no matter which way they take.

Example, in Sault ON, a cab ride can cost you $10 or $13 to travel to the same destination whereas the same trip will always be the same in Sault MI.

as if. i'd be sooo pissed if i was in a cab and they stopped to get someone else. that's rediculous. i'd tell them i'm not paying cause i had to share my ride.

Ontario Cab Meters climb while you are standing still also so they have additional charge for the amount of TIME it takes to get to your destination. I believe it climbs by 1/10 km rate for each increment of time you are stopped. Based on what I've experienced I'd say every 30 seconds it goes up 20 cents or so. I took a cab to and from work for 5 years or more, every day... Until I finally got a driver's license and bought a vehicle.

The last time I took a cab was when I picked up my Jeep at the dealership. From my home to Sudbury south-end (Four Corners) cost me $75.

Yeah that is a long way. I actually thought of catching a cab to Highland when I was picking up my truck but then at the last minute I thought I would call and see if there shuttle would pick me up and they did, to my surprise. Mind you your trip is quite a bit longer..

I am the same way. I have a HUGE phobia and do not drive. I could afford a car, and all that crap but I know that I would be a horrible driver because I am terrified to drive! I take the bus and cabs or people give me a ride places and I am fine with that.
