    Default Outside My Window...

This is what's happening just outside my patio door. Amazing.

I plan on taking a daily picture of the progress. I am careful to not touch the nest in any way and I always wait till Momma is out of the way. I can't wait to see how this all goes! It's my first experience with a nest.

cool! just to warn you tho-I've had Robins nest on my window but they don't servive long b.c of cats and Crows!! so you may want to look into getting an owl head to place around to scare the crows b.c as soon as the babies hatch they go after them-it was heartbreaking. So try looking on the web for solutions too-it's too sad to see them attacked.

I also took photos of their progress-which is why it made it even more saddening to see them almost ready to fly away and crows make a meal-I got out there with a broom stick-but it was too late.

If you are getting anywhere close, to take these pics, avoid leaving a human scent nearby. Perfumes, hairspray, or even deodorants can leave a lingering odor that the Robins may scent and abandon their nests.

The robins we had on our window for three years were used to humans- we'd sit by her while she sat -on the eggs and he watch us also.
Andre is righttho-don't leave behind smells-like perfumes which aren't natural o\-I don't like anything that smells so I didn't have to worry-and I never touched the nest...however the main predaotor for mine was the crow-and they get to them anywhere from eggs-to just hatched to ready to fly-my robins stopped trying on my window after the third year-we didn't hear about the owl trick until the 4th year which it was too late. durn

Thanks for the advice everyone. I made sure to take the pics as quickly as I could, and didn't touch the nest in any way.

Also, the nest is snuggled right against our house, by a well used patio window. Do you think I still need to worry about predators? I'm actually surprised that the nest was built there at all, considering it's not a quiet area.

Also, where could I purchase an owl head??

Everywomen-well the nest that got attacked three years in a row at my house was a nest built in a quiet area-neighborhood-the nest was built just below the window area nudged right safelt on my house-crows don't even come to my yard-but they did for this occassion I suppose. I'm unsure where you could get an owl head-I'm also unsure the affect it would have on the robins-but maybe a gardening store would have a plant statue or something.

Buy the whole owl....lol, canadian tire should have them, or Vern's perhaps. They are just a plastic decoy. You see them around to keep pigeons off of eves and stuff. I've never seen just the head....lol

Thats cool. Do you have a cat? If so do you think it can get at the nest?

Now I have to go and check on my new nest. The robins moved into one of the outdoor horse stalls, nice and sheltered and the crows don't go in there thankfully.

I think I'll be taking pics at my house tonight. Thanks everywoman for posting this, I'm looking forward to watching the progress.
