    Smile Cardinal

this morning I saw my first male cardinal, he was absolutely stunning. I have been putting out feeders for about 15 years and I have only once saw a female

I've never seen female or male before, besides in pictures. I've always wanted to see one. Did you see it in the Sault?

no, out in Goulais. I think that they are a rare sighting, although I recall my mother saying that they were abundant in this area at one time. I have never considered myself to be a "birder" but I guess I am. LOL!

Well in the bird books and stuff it says they are common in the southern Ontario area - London sticks out in my memory. It didn't show the Sault and area to be part of their regular spots.

We're wintering near Waco texas this season. We have about 20 cardinals, male and female feeding at our bird feeder each day. They are beautiful birds. We also have one huge blue jay! I've never seen one as big as this here in the Sault...but they say everthing is bigger in Texas!

Last winter I had a male cardinal at my feeder. I live in the north-west part of town. He was eating black oil sunflower seeds. The red is gorgeous.
