I'm sure glad I don't have to go back 29 years to find a great hockey moment in Canada.

You could go back one hundred years in Canadian hockey and not find a moment as good as Miracle on Ice.

If you consider the Americans winning a game a miracle, then I stand corrected.

I remember 1980.....1st year as an Oiler, Gretzky, as a 19 year old, tallied 51g and 84a for 137pts.
That was the top total and the same amount as Marcel Dionne who was awarded the Art Ross as a result of having 53g to Gretzky at 51g.
Gretzky played one less game that year, so....
It was a miracle that Dionne won that year......and the rest they say is history.
I remember 1980.....it was the birth of what will never be duplicated in sports.
In 1983-84 Gretzky could've stopped playing on Jan. 7 and still won the scoring title.
That's almost three months before the end of the season.
Gretzky took the single-season points record from 152 to 215, an increase of 41%.
Jordan would've had to average 71 points a game to do that.
IMO, that.....is the MIRACLE on ice.
    You're talking about one game......60 minutes.....*yawns*!

Gretzky's Miracle is clouded by the fact that he has so many other records.
You can read through a very long list, on which this would be included.
Gretzky's accomplishments are only part of the Canadian accomplishments in hockey.
The Canadian history in hockey, is the history of hockey.
USA on the other hand, has so few, so....
I just find it odd that a country that could care a less about hockey, uses it as their best moment in sports history.

    Nice try.
You would have to look to the winner of The Stanley Cup for the worlds best!
    .....only in America!
    Are you really that brainwashed?
You are talking about 60 minutes of hockey.
You were maybe the luckiest in the world in 1980, but neither team could be considered the best.
That head shot you took....still has you on the IR?
You got your mouth in gear before your brain again.

Don't be too hard on him Jack.Americans have had little to be proud of in the last 3 decades. If this is where he must reach to find that sense of pride then we should allow him this moment.Hopefullythen he won't bring it up for another decade.

That comment means you should be on the IR for a while yet.
    Still eating through a straw?
Here you go.....you missed a couple of years.
    You should be embarrassed.

Canada dominated the early Olympic ice hockey tournaments, winning 4 out of the first 5 gold medals.
In 1924, the Toronto Granites, the Ontario "Senior A" team and Allan Cup holders who represented Canada, racked up 110 goals in only 5 games.
Harry Watson scored 36 of them!

Did you know that two teams from the USA turned up for the 1948 Olympics.
One from the Amateur Athletic Union and one from the Amateur Hockey Association.
It nearly caused the abandonment of the competition but a compromise was reached.
The AAU team marched in the Olympic parade and the AHA team played in the tournament.
Control of the sport in America subsequently moved from the AAU to the AHA.
I don't think I have to add anything to that............

Like I'm the only one doing it?!?!?!?!??!?!

    LOL!!!!

It is a FACT the U.S. has won two Gold since 1960, while Canada has won one.
