    Default Heartworm

At what age do you get your dog the heartworm shot or whatever? To the person who tells me to call my vet, I don't want to.

My contract doesn't allow me to get him neutered until 15 months, but what about all the other stuff?

OK you don't want to call the vet who might be the one to give you the correct info but you are willing to take the advice you may get on here. My suggestion would be to Google it and research it on your own along with all the other shots.

Well seeing as you have owned of few dogs Grumpy, maybe you could have given a suggestion. But no. You can't do that.

No I always contacted my vet the way a responsible owner would.Pick up the phone and call a vet's office ,any vet would give you that information for free and it would be correct instead of coming on here and asking as you will get a million different answers. Does your dog have any shots at all right now or are you going to wait till he is 15 months old to get them too?

Yorkie I'm with Grumpy two best ideas call your vet or google it. How old is your pup? I would think he should/could/would be on heartworm medication this year. That is if you are going to put him on it. Has he had his puppy shots?
Your contract that doesn't allow him to be altered till 15 months is it a breeding contract?

Thats the thing about asking for advice in here ,you get so many different answers for the same question some right and some that could cause more harm than good. But upon rereading the initial post I'd have to say that the dog likely doesn't have any shots yet , "what about all the other stuff?".

Well I figured it out. Its like a range - 13-16 months or so. Bet it would have been hard for someone to say that. Thanks for all your help.

No need to get your pants in a knot ,if you want to know something about your dog's health it is up to You to find out what is best and asking on a forum is about the poorest way of doing it. So get off your high horse, one of the first things that should have entered your mind when you first got your dog was when do you get it it's shots and which vet to go to.

You don't know anything about me or my dog, and what research went into getting him. I'd say I'm pretty good for looking into it about a year before hand wouldn't you. I think you, Grumpy, should get off your high horse.

Sorry but if you go back and read your very first post you'll see that this wasn't what you presented to us with the "At what age do you get your dog the heartworm shot or whatever?" and the "what about all the other stuff?" . Maybe instead of spending all that time researching what kind of dog you should get you should have spent some time on how to raise it and what shots it needs and when they are required or if they are really required at all. As for the "I'd say I'm pretty good for looking into it about a year before hand wouldn't you." , you answered that yourself in the first sentence how could I tell as you correctly stated I don't know your dog. You could have saved yourself all this nonsense by just simply picking up a phone and calling any of the vet's offices on either side of the river and they would have been more than happy to provide you with all the proper information that you desired.

You could have saved all the nonsense by answering my question for me. I asked at what age do you get the heartworm? I added other stuff, because I know that along with heartworm there are other shots to be had. I was most concerned with heartworm.

You're most unhelpful and rude. Next time you see one of my posts, do me a favour and ignore it.

Most people don't know the name and use of every shot given to a dog. I am sorry for not knowing the names of them all. Sorry for asking a question. Sorry for not being perfect like yourself.

Don't worry about that as odds are it will be just as stupid as this one. I always figured that if you want information go to the source and don't ask on here as you will get a million wrong answers.True that most if not the vast majority don't know the names of all the shots most however have at least a couple active brain cells where they'd just pick up a phone and ask.It isn't important to know the names its just important to get them and by the way there are a lot worse things out there than heart worm and a dog needs to be protected against them too. Am I rude for not giving you the answer, hardly because for myself I would never ask that kind of question on here nor would I put any stock in the answer.
