Systematic Extinction of Gnomes.
Being a gnome was probably pretty cool back when they lived. The resugence looked promising for a while. There is a new breed called "garden fluffers" that seem to be trying to banish them once again....

As far as I know there is only one gnome left alive. I believe he works as a travel consultant.
