    Default 3 year olds

How do i deal with an hyper active 3 year old boy.. Hes constantly busy, running in circles, pushing his sister who is only a baby, shouting @ me, interrupts me while im on the phone or talking to daddy.. Im a stay @ home mom right now and i go to play groups @ least 2wice a week to give him that interaction with kids his own age.. and he is very smart.. he knows letters, numbers, colors, shapes, days of the week, seasons all in french and english.. He tells me he likes to be a bad boy! Im @ a loss.. i use stickers for encouragement, and he gets time outs and a crack on the butt if hes really bad... People keep telling me that its JUST THE AGE hes @.. but come on.. i dont think all kids are this defiant @ 3!

no his birthday is in january.. so he wont be going till next year..

my sister watched him one day for like 3 hours and she said he was a nightmare pushing and throwing and running and she put him in time out like 12 times.. She said i have the patience of a saint but sometimes i disagree..

I make 3 meals a day for him and he gets snacks inbetween meals if he is hungry(only if he eats his meals).. but some days he will only eats twice a day beucase hes too busy .. he use to run around right after eating and throw up his food beucase his tummy couldnt handle him being soo active after a full belly... im just tired of yeling.. its very frusterating.. I had to fight him to get dressed today, he said he wanted to do it but i had given him almost an hour time to get it done and he still hadnt.. so it was a battle.. but he got dressed and is now in his room.. letting mommy calm down and than the screaming woke the baby.. UGHHHHHHH>. Is it too early for a beer.. hahaha

Maybe he's having a hyper type of reaction to certain foods or dyes? There are so many things it can be, you may have to talk to a pediatrician about it. You may also want to invest in a treadmill, lol.
Watching racing may not be a good thing either since it is the fastest that wins and the monster trucks are pretty bouncy too. He may be taking a lead from them and wanting to imitate. Mine's 19 now so I'm a bit out of the Mommy stage, wish I had more suggestions.

I have a 3 year old, 5 year old and a almost 9 year old, and what i found that really works is a schedual. Although my 2 yougest are in daycare cuz I work and go to school, but if you have his day already planned out and rewards are involved it may help. If hes not working for stickers you are going to have to make him work for something he really wants... possibly a toy or a food he really likes.?

Sometimes kids are just born active and nothing short of meds will settle them down. lol

Just keep doing what you're doing, try to stay calm, try to stay consistant with your discipline and hopefully he will slow down.
Just remember that when you are having a bad day, they DO grow up, and things get better.

I have one word for you WINTER!! My daughter is pretty hyper in the winter. She is stuck in the house more than summer and their energy builds up and so does the boredom. Once the weather is nice and they can burn off their energy they seem to be more mellow. I would suggest bringing him for a walk if you could everyday. He has no place to put his energy. Activities, walking, play groups as much as you can during the caacaa months. I can't wait for the nice weather to come!!!

Also wanted to add, I strongly agree with kids being in daycare!! Even if it's only for a few months before they start school or half days a few times a week. It helps with their energy, gives parents a break and prepares them for interaction with other kids in a semi school setting. I wish I had put my daughter in for a short time! I might not have some of the issues I have with her now......like beating up all the little boys!

Enjoy it. My oldest is forty now and as soon as his arse hits any object that holds his weight his eyes slam shut. That started at about fourteen and I, and his wife and kids are still waiting for him to out grow it.
