Yeah, bizarre, eh? I know of the surviving man, and the woman involved. In fact, she's a member on here. It's a terrible situation. I can't imagine what could lead a man to stab himself. There are certainly a lot less painful ways to commit suicide.

When you are not thinking clearly it's the end result you're after. The method is secondary.
A friend stationed in Afghanistan has retired and stayed on, opening a bomb plant that makes ordinance that look like prayer mats. Profits are through the roof.

Yep. Like the article said, his name has no been officially released but this information was out on Monday I think? I found out Monday about the details but I wonder if it is really morally right for the news to report the deceased's name? I mean the police have not reported his name for a reason. I didn't tell anyone when I found out because really it is not anyone's business unless they are family since it was really a domestic situation.

I concur, if you don't know the names, then chances are it is none of your business. If it is your business, i'm sure you would've found out long ago.

I also do not think it was morally correct to do that. But, no one said the news was moral... The police kept the name from the public because it was a domestic dispute, it is just as bad as if a teen was caught doing something, fined etc... and because of the YCJA their name was not released had their name spread all over the news because other people knew his name.
I'm sure the news site will not be in any trouble for this because of the wording, but none the less it is still wrong to splatter the name everywhere...

Sault Star... so classy. Even Sootoday respected the idea of not releasing the names.

Well, I for one just found out who the victim was. He's a friend who I have not spoken to since about a month ago, and was shocked to find out what happened.

I hope he gets well soon. Nothing but best wishes to him and his girls.

Why, the news released a name? I was not aware of that.

it was not right at all to release barrys name to the public, he was a very nice guy and we use to be good friends about 2 years ago and i have not seen him in 2 years, it is ashame what happened and i would never in a million years think he would ever do something like that. Specially take his own life...he seemed to be a strong minded and did not let things hurt him or get in his way or let people bother him to the point of doing this...he was a avid hunter and fisherman, he really was a sincerely nice giving man..he had some serious back problems and was on strong medication for it,.something must have snapped in his head and i do not know what, it has been a couple years since we have all gotten together and chatted..and the victim is a nice man as well...all this over a women and jealousy...very very sad...we will miss barry very much and are in total shock over this.....
this is a terrible thing that has happened, and i hope every respects the fact that this was just a horrible decision he made and his family reads this board and to please refrain from saying horrible things about him and what happened...
and its sad that rob is going to more then likely loose his leg over this, but it could have been alot worse...
my prayers are with both family's

What’s the big deal about printing the name? In a city the size of SSM when someone releases gas everyone hears it, That’s the nature and charm of small city living.

When someone commits a crime, your name gets printed. The way it is. If its a serious domestic incident, it gets put out there. People always want it and just because you know them doesnt make it wrong. It doesnt matter if they are "nice". Nice people don't bring guns with the intent of using them. End of story.
