What is a Easter memory of yours?
A couple of years ago I volunteered for an Easter Egg hunt. I thought we did a great job organizing it. We had chocolate bunnies donated, eggs and door prizes! It was at the museum. The staff there was awesome and let us use the museum for free. They were so nice. The group that it was for was a group that organized activities for stay at home moms. *We* (the group) was trying to attract more moms. So we advertised the egg hunt.
The day of the hunt....it started.
People started calling the museum yelling at them. DISCRIMINATION they said. Why is the group for stay at home moms? Why isn't it for working moms? Why can't the children of working moms have eggs too?
Just for the record....the group didn't have anything against working moms...but because we stayed at home we had activities during the day. If working moms wanted to join and start having groups planned and hosted by them at night they were totally okay to do that....just the stay at home moms weren't going to.
SO.....in steps the CRAZY MOM. She showed up yelling.....yelling at everyone. The staff at the museum got it first...why wasn't the front door open? Why did her kids have to walk around the building? She continued yelling at everyone.
It was so embrassing. Embrassing to the group and an awful experience for the museum staff.
We talked about her later (the museum staff and the group).
We learned that you NEVER advertise a free event and put the event information (time and place). People should have to call and register.
This woman ruined the event for the group....we never went back to the museum. The museum was so awesome to us and the just got yelled at and told off......
I have been embrassed to go back to this day, even though it was her behaviour that made the experience a bad one.
So...that was my learning experience for Easter.
