well if I could read that loooooooong sentence right, I would think you asked about the worms called grubs. They ate the grass and left dirt behind.....there is something you can spray your lawn with, but I think you have to do it at a certain time, or it will be wasting your time.....

    anyone else?

A lot of the pesticides and such are banned now. The new ones are a lot different. Also, it's not just the selling of these products that is banned, but their use too. So you can't just go across the river and pick up some Killex for your yard.

I did my yard before the ban I'm replanting grass this summer

I know you can get like the weed man or whoever to come spray your lawn for you. At least they used to have something that kills them. I don't know if they still do.

Or check out like TSC or something and look for something that kills grubs.

My lawn is a bleeping dandelion garden. Every spring I'm out there with the environmentally friendly 'green' weedkiller; almost there with killing the suckers off.
I too had/have grubs but I know they like dandelion roots so I'm despirately hoping that in killing the weeds off I can get rid of them too.

Last year we used grub away from Canadian tire. Then hired someone to put a new lawn in.Then we sprayed in July again just to be sure. They are June bug grubs. They ate our lawn completley away. My son sprayed in May when it rained. Attached the spray to the hose. Grubs gone. Then again in July because the June bugs were behind a bit because of the late spring.

Cost us $1250.00 to put the new lawn in.

the apt i live in it is a very nice clean building, the only thing that is pissing me and the landlord off it the front yard has about a million cigarette butts everywhere, its nasty. When i say million i may be over exaggerating a bit but there is probably thousands..lol.its gross and kids play out there. So im going to be a nice tenant even though they are not my butts and go out there today or tomorrow and clean the front yard up and pick them all up. Im also going to put a sign on in the front lobby telling people to plz not use the lawn as a ashtray to either bring a astray pout with them or a can to throw them in. Its so gross..i think you see more cigarette butts out there then you do lawn..lol..
The landlord tried his best to keep this place spotless and does a great job at it and the tenants have no respect and i guess would rather have their kids play in a gross butt infested yard..lol.

Lawn? What lawn? I have snow! I finally can see some patches of grass, but I'm patiently waiting for the snow to melt enough where I can go shovel the 6FT!!!! of snow off my flower beds(from it sliding off the roof)! We have grubs and last year there were thousands of june bugs in the trees. You could walk outside see them and hear them flying around in swarms. We barely have any grass left though so I'm hoping they eat weeds too lol.

Those grubs, do they leave holes all over? Looks like someone took a pencil and went to town. Or is it something else?

By feeding them weeds. They are happy grubs who turn into June bugs and then lays some more grubs. They claim the reason why the grubs aren't killed off anymore is because of the mild winters. So I will spray in July again.Don't know if CT still sells grub away. Its good stuff and you can apply it with your hose.

Blackbirds digging for the grubs are leaving holes in our yard. They've been feasting on our lawn for a few weeks now.

no, moles leave little tunnels, but they eat up the grubs - and its all natural!! moles dont usually make big holes, they just help airate the yard. you cant see the little tunnels as soon as the grass grows in, just this time of year.

im pretty sure those holes that look like a pencil hole are from worms. and the more worms in your lawn and garden the better! they help airate, turn the soil and bring nutrients down deep.

i heard that grubs (junebugs) have a 'banner' year every so often and that last year was their good year. i think we will still have lots this year, but it will decrease now for a few years.

We were told by the guy who put our lawn in that it takes 5 yrs for your lawn to be eaten completly away. I remember that our lawn was being eaten every year in a different spot for about 4 yrs. Until we had absolutly no grass left. I will get someone to spray in July. I was told they have something else to use when pesticides are gone.

If you spray and the rest of the neighbours don't,,
Will the grubs not come back when the spray wears off?
