Default Need help setting monitor resolution

Hey guys, this problem just started to rear it's head:

I have an Nvidia 7800GT video card and an Acer 22" LCD. The default resolution for the monitor is 1680x1050. Everything was working fine and now I can't set the resolution for the monitor past 1024x768. I was running Windows 7 build 7000 32-bit edition. I had already downloaded build 7057 x64 so I just formatted and installed the 64 bit version.

So far I've updated the drivers using first the drivers via Windows Update, then downloaded the latest from Nvidia's website. I've installed the latest driver for the monitor from Acer's website, and still no go. Right now it's connected via a DVI cable. I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight into the problem

might have to manually change the aspect ratio to 16:10.

If it works under another OS but not version 7, I would say it's a driver issue.

I found the problem. I also use my LCD for my 360 via a HDMI to DVI cable, I guess when switching one day it broke off the big flat pin so it couldn't detect what type of monitor was connected (it was showing up as "non-pnp generic monitor" in device manager). Once I used a DVI-VGA converter and a VGA cable, it works fine.

On the plus side I found out that I can have both the VGA cable and HDMI-DVI cable connected at the same time and use the monitor menu to switch between the two. I originally through this wasn't possible when I first got the monitor and was quite pissed off about it. I guess the other VGA cable I was using at the time was too big and it interfered with them. I just thought ACER had put the connectors so close together to prevent both from being connected at the same time.

That's great that you found the problem, now get off your computer and start packing!
