    Default Help with songs please!

I am looking for songs that are about birth and pregnancy. The only song i can come up with is arms wide open by creed. I can't seem to think of anything else. I am getting a dvd of my 3d ultrasound and I would like to have music to accompany it. If you can think of any songs that would be appropriate it would be greatly appreciated. They don't have to be serious songs they can be fun ones too. I believe the dvd will be about 30 min long. I let my oldest pic out a song that he likes and I ended up with the song
"Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt
    Smith...Johnson, Jr. "

It is his favourite song and we listen to it every time we go to the races.

here are the lyrics, it is quite funny..
    Lyrics:
She named me Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

I guess you could say Momma was a NASCAR fan,
I was born in Talladega up in the stands.
The fans all cheered the second I arrived,
the loudspeaker said "The boy's born to drive!"
We didn't have money for a pacifier,
so I sucked on the valve off a Goodyear tire...
a seven pound, eight ounce, son-of-the-south
born with a taste for racin' in my mouth.

She named me Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

I got my first real stock-car when I was nine,
an old one Momma bought off of Jeff Bodine.
The Winston Cup people said "The boy's too young"...
'till I qualified second at Darlington.
How in the world could a nine-year-old child
hit 197 in a time trial?
The man said Momma ought to be ashamed...
"but by the way son, tell us what's your name"?

I told 'em Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.

    I got a "Toys-R-Us" sponsor and a new pit-crew.
    Daytona loves "Little 52"
The junior-high-school girls are all cheerin' for me.
I'm out there intimidatin' "Number 3"
But I ain't got room on my cards, or my caps, or the helmet I'm drivin' with...

to write Dale Darrell Waltrip Richard Petty Rusty Awesome Bill Irvin Gordon Earnhardt Smith...Johnson, Jr.
Aut Viam Inveniam Aut Faciam, which means "Either I will find a way or I will make one."

Not about birth or pregnancy, but a good 'childhood' song is House at Pooh Corner by Loggins and Messina.

I Knew I Loved You - Savage Garden

I don't know what this song is supposed to be about, but I used to sing it to my daughter when she was a baby (she turned 14 on Monday). Still makes me cry everytime I hear it.

    Maybe it's intuition
But some things you just don't question
    Like in your eyes
I see my future in an instant
    and there it goes
I think I've found my best friend
I know that it might sound more than
a little crazy but I believe

    [chorus:]

I knew I loved you before I met you
I think I dreamed you into life
I knew I loved you before I met you
I have been waiting all my life

There's just no rhyme or reason
    only this sense of completion
    and in your eyes
    I see the missing pieces
    I'm searching for
I think I found my way home
I know that it might sound more than
a little crazy but I believe

    [repeat chorus]

A thousand angels dance around you
I am complete now that I found you
The best part of waking up is not Folgers in your cup, but knowing that Chuck Norris didn't kill you in your sleep.

Aww I love that song, I forgot all about it till you mentioned it. I have to download it now :P
    That is a beautiful song.
I can not think of any songs for pregnancy though, that is a tough one.
My kids are 7 and 5. My husband and I are debating if we want to have another baby soon.

Live - Lightning Crashes (Album: Throwing Copper)

It's a little sombre as the woman who gives birth actually dies but it's a powerful song.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lightning crashes, a new mother cries
Her placenta falls to the floor
    The angel opens her eyes
    The confusion sets in
Before the doctor can even close the door

Lightning crashes, an old mother dies
Her intentions fall to the floor
    The angel closes her eyes
    The confusion that was hers
Belongs now, to the baby down the hall

Oh now feel it comin back again
Like a rollin thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin from the center of the earth again
    I can feel it.

Lightning crashes, a new mother cries
This moment shes been waiting for
    The angel opens her eyes
Pale blue colored eyes, presents the circle
And puts the glory out to hide, hide

At least the baby turned out ok.

P.S. Probably should've been posted in the music section, musicians tend to be a bit more helpful about songs and music.

Yes Annie, it is beautiful. Usually around the line "I think I dreamed you into life" the waterworks start..lol

    Another good one is

    Blessed - Elton John

Hey you, you're a child in my head
    You haven't walked yet
Your first words have yet to be said
But I swear you'll be blessed

    I know you're still just a dream
    your eyes might be green
Or the bluest that I've ever seen
    Anyway you'll be blessed

    And you, you'll be blessed
    You'll have the best
    I promise you that
I'll pick a star from the sky
Pull your name from a hat
I promise you that, promise you that, promise you that
    You'll be blessed

I need you before I'm too old
    To have and to hold
To walk with you and watch you grow
    And know that you're blessed
The best part of waking up is not Folgers in your cup, but knowing that Chuck Norris didn't kill you in your sleep.

    Celine Dion - Miracle

    You're my life's one Miracle,
    Everything I've done that's good
And you break my heart with tenderness,
    And I confess it's true
I never knew a love like this till you....

You're the reason I was born
Now I finally know for sure
    And I'm overwhelmed with happiness
So blessed to hold you close
The one that I love most
With all the future has so much for you in store
Who could ever love you more?

    The nearest thing to heaven,
    You're my angel from above
Only God creates such perfect looooove

When you smile at me, I cry
And to save your life I'll die
With a romance that is pure heart,
    You are my dearest part
    Whatever it requires,
    I live for your desires
Forget my own, needs will come before
Who could ever love you more?

Well there is nothing you could ever do,
To make me stop, loving you
    And every breath I take,
    Is always for your sake
You sleep inside my dreams and know for sure
Who could ever love you more?
I'm amused by stupid people. It's better than cable and it's FREE!!!

That songs use to make me cry all the time. When i first heard it years ago i cried and cried. I was told I would never have children so they words really meant a lot to me. Cause it was exactly how i felt and how I thought.
Then when i got pregnant, I listened to that song again, and it meant even more to me.
Its amazing how a song can touch you so much.

    Amy Sky Ordinary Miracles
    Ordinary Miracles

At six weeks you learned to smile
At three months you learned to laugh
At six months you cut a tooth
and at ten months you took a step
At two years you made a best friend
at three years you rode a bike
at four years you learned to skate
and at five years you learned to write

    CHORUS
    Just ordinary miracles
    Ordinary miracles
but all the same they're miracles to me
the days that I’ll remember well
have a simple kind of wonderful
    of ordinary miracles

Your silky head beneath my chin
    for bedtime books and lullabies
your angel kiss upon my cheek
your teddy bear clutched to your side
How soon the bike wheels turn to car wheels
the lullabies to rock and roll
The teddy bears to pretty girls
and instead of you these thoughts I’ll hold

    CHORUS
    Just ordinary miracles
    Ordinary miracles
but all the same they're miracles to me
the days that Ill remember well
have a simple kind of wonderful
    of ordinary miracles

    BRIDGE

and I know the day will come
that you'll spread your wing and fly
but I’ll treasure these moments all my life
    A gentle kind of wonderful
the sweetest days are always full
    of ordinary miracles
each time I hold you near
    it’s an ordinary miracle

    I Have Been Blessed.......Martina McBride

Not necessarily about birth, but it is about children, husband and family. Beautiful song.

I get kissed by the sun each morning
Put my feet on a hardwood floor
I get to hear my children laughing
Down the hall through the bedroom door
Sometimes I sit on my front porch swing
    Just soaking up the day
I think to myself, I think to myself
This world is a beautiful place

    I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
    I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
    I have been blessed

    Across a crowded room
I know you know what I'm thinking
By the way I look at you
And when we're lying in the quiet
And no words have to be said
I think to myself, I think to myself
This love is a beautiful gift

    I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
    I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
    I have been blessed

When I'm singing my kids to sleep
When I feel you holding me
    I know

    I have been blessed
And I feel like I've found my way
I thank God for all I've been given
At the end of every day
    I have been blessed
With so much more than I deserve
To be here with the ones that love me
To love them so much it hurts
    I have been blessed
Somewhere in a lonely hotel room
thereís a guy starting to realize
That eternal fate has turned it's back on him
    It's two a.m.

    so i listen to country...sorry

There goes my life by Kenny Chesney

All he could think about was I'm too young for this.
    Got my whole life ahead.
Hell I'm just a kid myself.
    How'm I gonna raise one.

All he could see were his dreams goin' up in smoke.
So much for ditchin' this town and hangin' out on the coast.
Oh well, those plans are long gone.

    [Chorus:]
    And he said,
    There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
Might as well kiss it all good-bye.
    There goes my life.......

A couple years of up all night and a few thousand diapers later.
That mistake he thought he made covers up the refrigerator.
Oh yeah..........he loves that little girl.

Momma's waiting to tuck her in,
As she fumbles up those stairs.
She smiles back at him dragging that teddy bear.
Sleep tight, blue eyes and bouncin' curls.

    [Chorus:]
    He smiles.....
    There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
    I love you, daddy good-night.
    There goes my life.

She had that Honda loaded down.
With Abercrombie clothes and 15 pairs of shoes and his American Express.
He checked the oil and slammed the hood, said you're good to go.
She hugged them both and headed off to the West Coast.

    [Chorus:]
    And he cried,
    There goes my life.
There goes my future, my everything.
    I love you.
    Baby good-bye.

    There goes my life.
    There goes my life.
    Baby good-bye.

hey gigglesquirt, congrats on your pregnancy! My absolute favorite favorite song is "lullaby" by the Dixie Chicks. I played this song to my son when he was in utero all the time, and when he was born i would play it to soothe him and it worked every time, such a beautiful song with very meaningful lyrics.
    "Lullaby"

They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
    Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

One of my favourites by Trace Adkins, not necessarily about pregnancy, more about growing up.

    Then They Do :
    (Jim Collins/Sunny Russ)

In the early rush of morning,
Trying to get the kids to school:
    One's hanging on my shirt-tail,
Another's locked up in her room.
And I'm yelling up the stairs:
"Stop worrying 'bout your hair, you look fine."

Then they're fightin' in the backseat,
    And I'm playing referee.
    Now someone's gotta go,
    The moment that we leave.
    And everybody's late,
I swear that I can't wait till they grow up.

Then they do, and that's how it is.
It's just quiet in the mornin',
Can't believe how much you miss,
All they do and all they did.
You want all the dreams they dreamed of to come true:
    Then they do.

Now the youngest is starting college,
She'll be leavin' in the Fall.
    And Brianna's latest boyfriend,
Called to ask if we could talk.
    And I got the impression,
That he's about to pop the question any day.

I look over at their pictures,
    Sittin' in their frames.
    I see them as babies:
    I guess that'll never change.
    You pray all their lives,
That someday they will find happiness.

Then they do, and that's how it is.
It's just quiet in the mornin',
Can't believe how much you miss,
All they do and all they did.
You want all the dreams they dreamed of to come true:
    Then they do.

    No more Monday PTA's,
    No carpools, or soccer games.
    Your work is done.
Now you've got time that's all your own.
You've been waitin' for so long,
    For those days to come.

Then they do, and that's how it is.
It's just quiet in the mornin',
Can't believe how much you miss,
All they do and all they did.
You want all the dreams they dreamed of to come true:
    Then they do.

    Ah, then they do.

It's hard to come up with songs specifically for pregnancy and/or giving birth. But this one is one of my favs....

    Rod Stewart - Forever Young

May the good Lord be with you
    Down every road you roam
    And may sunshine and happiness
Surround you when you're far from home

And may you grow to be proud
    Dignified and true
    And do unto others
As you'd have done to you

    Be courageous and be brave
And in my heart you'll always stay
    Forever young, forever young
    Forever young, forever young

May good fortune be with you
May your guiding light be strong
    Build a stairway to heaven
With a prince or a vagabond

And may you never love in vain
And in my heart you will remain
    Forever young, forever young
    Forever young, forever young

And when you finally fly away
I'll be hoping that I served you well
For all the wisdom of a lifetime
    No one can ever tell

    But whatever road you choose
I'm right behind you, win or lose
    Forever young, forever young
    Forever young, forever young
    Forever young, forever young
    For, forever young, forever young

    Have I Told You Lately

Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you there no one above you
    Fill my heart with gladness
    Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles thatís what you do

Oh the morning sun in all its glory
Greets the day with hope and comfort too
And you fill my life with laughter
    You can make it better
Ease my troubles thatís what you do

    Thereís a love thatís divine
And itís yours and itís mine
Like the sun at the end of the day
We should give thanks and pray
    To the One

Have I told you lately that I love you
Have I told you thereís no one above you
    Fill my heart with gladness
    Take away my sadness
Ease my troubles thatís what you do

    Thereís a love thatís divine
And itís yours and itís mine
And it shines like the sun
At the end of the day
We will give thanks and pray
    To the One

    I love that song too..
I like country, older country too. No matter how you feel, there is always a country song to describe it. :P

Woot, in the music section now ... c'mon guys, give her some more options other than all the gay country, Celine & Elton John. ok, Elton is pretty cool ...
