OK Public schools are OUT
I have been up cleaning and stuff since hubby left for work at 4 am, waiting on my little peanuts to awake from there sleep to get our summer MOVING.....
This is the last couple months with my baby home so we are going to make the best of summer, amongst trying to finish our house for move in at the end of AUG.....
P.s. on that note I started to paint yesterday..........

Tuesday Sept. 1st. They go for 3 days than off for Labour Weekend. What a crock of crap.

I can see the logic there though. The first few days are used to settle students into their classes and in high school, explain the course outlines and such. When I was in school, it was after Labor Day with a 4 day week then the weekend.

Yes but some plan vacations around the Labour Day weekend and usually take the week off of the LD weekend. Its been like that for years than BOOM its changed.

Yeah I see where you are coming from. At least they gave us advance notice so that vacations can either be rescheduled or planned out differently.

We have a state law in Michigan that schools can not go back until after Labor Day weekend, to help get in one more long weekend of tourism.
We got out on May 31st, and return Sep 6.
A lot of that is due to the fact we added ten minutes on to the beginning and end of each day. It doesn't seem like much, but over nine months it adds up to something like an extra eight days of instructional time.

It is because the schools need 194 of in class days and this year that means starting before Labour day. But if you have planned a vacation during that time......what is three days missed? I think attendence will be low anyways.

We are still going for our annual labour day weekend camping trip whether my boys are in school or not, we never miss it for anything

Enjoy that family day, the time has to be made up for somewhere, which means going back to school before Labour Day.

Family Day is a farce. Its in the dead of winter when its cold. Give us the warm weather with a holiday instead.
