So,anybody reading any good books? I'm just about finished the newest Steve Hamilton book,Stolen Season. It is as good as all the previous Alex McKnight stories set in our area of the UP and northern Ontario.I see on Amazon that he has a new book coming out in the fall-will definitely be keeping my eyes open for it.

I'm reading the entire hannibal series, and I tell ya, if you read the hannibal rising book BEFORE seeing the movie, the movie REALLY sucks. The book is 10000000x better!

Been reading a bunch of HG Wells lately, he has some pretty modern sounding views on a lot of stuff, even if he was a Socialist.

Outlaws and Smugglers on the Great Lakes, nonfiction about pirates, bootleggers and even a king from like 1600 - 1900 or so.

and just bought a bunch of books from the Horatio Hornblower series, I've enjoyed all the others I've read.

Bought a Nora Roberts book at a garage sale a couple weeks back "Key of Knowledge". Realized it's the second in one of her trilogys. I like reading these kind in sequence so now I just need the time to pop around to the library and see if they have the other two.

Nora Roberts (a.k.a J.D. Robb) is one of my fav authors, so I know I won't be dissappointed.

Just finished Julie Garwood's "Murder List", another of my fav authors.

Nora Roberts is also one of my favorites. Although I don't care too much for her J.D. Robb books.
I have just finished reading one of her books the other night it is called Blue Smoke. It was a great book.
I've read most of her books.

Xzavia, Julie Garwood is my all time favorite author, do you know when she is putting out another book??
I have tried to read Nora Roberts, i don't know if i am choosing not so good ones, but i just can't get into them. If you can suggest one, i would like to try again, because so many people say she is great,,, i just may be choosing the wrong books.

KA, if you like the McKnight books, you'd probably like the Cork O'Conner series by William Kent Kreuger. They take place in northern Minnisota and are similar in style to Hamilton's. I enjoyed all of Hamilton's books as well, but haven't picked up the paperback for stolen season yet.

Still waiting for Lehane to come out with another Kensey and Gennaro mystery too.

i just finished michael connely's latest and lee child's latest, both were fantastic, like ive come to expect from both of those authors.

if you like localish authors, have you heard of sue harrison from rudyard? her stories are set 1000's of years ago in alaska, very well researched and wonderful stories, she has 2 trilogies out, the first one called 'mother earth, father sky'. absolutly fantastic reading!

I also love Nora Roberts and read Blue Smoke 6 months ago. Don't like her JD Robb books.

Colleen McCullough is another good writter.Just read The Thorn Birds because I didn't see the picture. She also wrote TIM and a lot more books.

John Grisham and David Baldacci are 2 more good authors.

Found a new author JOY FIELDING who used to live in Toronto.

btw Nora Roberts has a new book out but it's still in hardcover

I also like Nora Roberts and not J.D.Robb, go figure.
My friend was reading Julie Garwood one day while we were sitting on my deck and she kept laughing out loud at what was going on in the book. She said you have to read this when I'm done.So I did then I was hooked, she is a very funny writer. My friend has since passed on but when I pick up a Julie Garwood book I think of her and then read it for both of us.There is always a chuckle in her books.
I just finished reading The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks and it was a good book..made me cry. Does'nt happen very often I usually like mystery, suspense.

I think the likes and dislikes of the Nora vs. JD novels could be that the Nora novels are classified as romance novels and the J.D. novels are classified as suspence/si-fi.

    Just a working theory.
