Exclamation To vaccinate...or NOT to vaccinate

In our household we feel there are too many unaswered questions about the H1N1 vaccine and have decided to take our chnaces and not get ANY SHOTS this year. What is happening in your household?

we have never taken the flu shots. I feel that with all the antibacterial soap, hand wash and what ever else they make you are never giving your body the chance to fight anything off. If your system is always protected then how will it fight against anything important later on. ( practice makes perfect!) sometimes you have to get sick to strengthen your immune system.

We are going to get the shots. They are free and only take a few minutes of our time. These shots along with good personal hygiene will keep me and my family healthy and wise. I skipped the wealthy part because ...... LOL.

No one in my family is getting this shot, I also hope everyone on this board is doing the reading about how they haven't tested it properly and are rushing it to the public.

However, Dr Keiji ***uda, the WHO's flu chief, today warned about the potential dangers of the untested vaccine: "There are certain areas where you simply do not try to make any economies. One of the things which cannot be compromised is the safety of vaccines."

The European Medicines Agency, the drug regulatory body for the EU, is accelerating the approval process for the vaccine, allowing firms to bypass large-scale human trials and instead test a vaccine based on bird flu.

Only people who need it are babies and old people.

Most who will get H1N1 will find it to be no big deal.

My wife and I have never had the flu shot. Lats time either of us had the flu was maybe 10 yrs ago. We have been together for 6-7 yrs and have not had the flu since we have known each other. We are lucky that our daughter since she was born has had 2 minor colds. By minor I mean a stuffy and runny nose for 2 days Max and she is now 15 months old. She has never had the flu. Doctor yesterday when she went for her check up said we are lucky cause infants/toddlers by her age have had at least 3-5 cold and a flu by her age.
We are not getting the shots this year. We wanted to have our daughter receive the shot but after reading we are going to wait till maybe next year and see how people/children handled this shot and if they have more answers about the shots and see how the outcome of this yrs shots are.

Now I must go knock on wood for mentioning all this or I WILL end up with the flu now

Oh and the doctor also mentioned to us that people who were born in 1957 and before are somewhat immune to the swine flu. the swine flu was going around in '57 and shots were given out then. So people born after '57 should get the shot he said.

These my thoughts on the topic too..

Why they want to scare everyone into this shot is beyound my thinking. I have researched the topic a bit and have decided no swine flu shot for us!
Too many unknown factors around it

Not going to vaccinate here. I got a flu shot once and I will never get ANY flu shot again. Not only that but I am really not any more concerned about H1N1 than I am about any other flu.

Not quite true as you will need to have the shot to visit the hospitals or the nursing homes. However I have never been asked tp produce the card that they give you to show that you have gotten the shot.

My dear departed mother used to insist on the flu shot every year...because her doctor told her it was the right thing to do. She saw the doctor as almost god.. so complied. After the shot she would be quite sick for about 2 weeks. There was no convincing her that she should not put herself through this sickness...it would have been easier just to get the flu.

Our family only does select vaccinations at the recomended intervals for the children. No one in our family has ever had the flu shot and we are not getting the h1n1 shot. I believe if you are healthy and active that you body will build up natural immunities from being exposed to it.

This is true, when I was pregnat with my last kid my son came down with the chicken pox. I have never had the chicken pox (like break out in the bumps and get all itchy and stuff) I called my doc because i heard it could be harmfull in pregnancy and they tested me for the antibody. Turns out I had the antibody but never ever physically broke out with the chicken pox.

The same thing happened to my mom. She was so sick after the flu shot. She could barely get out of bed

She was very independent, but was so sick she let me come over and cook and clean for her. That was very out of character for her, but she sure need me at that time.
I have never gotten a shot and doing OK. I am sick now, but i figure I am building my immune system for this winter so all is good
