    Default Alienware m17x Laptop

    Anythoughts on this?

    http://www1.ca.dell.com/ca/en/home/L..._m17x_en_rbp~~

Since the birth of my second child, we gave up our computer room, and my gaming machine went with it.

I want a gaming machine, but no where to put it. So I want to get a gaming laptop and wanted to know peoples thoughts on this one?

    Or any other suggestions?

I wouldnt get one quite yet. Wait until they throw i5 chips into them because they run a whole lot cooler and the laptop shouldnt be near as bloody huge as its going to be. I have a gateway gaming laptop that weighs about 9 pounds and its completely impractical lol. If space saving is just the goal then its great, portability isnt really there lol.

There's some pretty nice computer games. Especially some old school ones you can't get on Xbox.

The old school ones will run fine on any standard laptop.

Yup. You're right. But they won't run on an Xbox.

Yes, that is correct. That's why my advice was to purchase a cheap laptop and a Xbox 360.

Thanks... how long of a wait before the new chips?

I want to get one after christmas... if we are talking february, then i'll wait. I want a real hardcore gaming system, but a laptop. I'll sacrifice the bulkiness. I have two other laptops for the internet, i'd want this just for gaming. *tear* i miss it.

the i7 720 mobile chips are in a few laptops already. The Alienware M15x has the option for i7 chips. I personally would get barebones for some parts (hdd and ram) and purchase those for a fraction of the price from an online etailer in canada. .
