Default So this is how it is now?

So, i'm about 2/3rds of the way done building my house, so i had to dig a trench for my electrical conduit piping in the ground pvc pipe right?, so i call shaw and bell to come up and lay down some lines in the trench while its still open and it would be a great time to run the lines under ground while the trench is open...Great idea right?....Wrong!!..lol....apparently that shaw and bell dont come up there untill you actually want service connected, and they will charge you for digging, lines etc....so, they wont come up while its convenient for you, they will come up when there's large bills involved though....unreal!...so i had to go myself and pick up the orange conduit for the shaw cable to run, and get this...after talking 20 mins on the phone to bell....they sent me 250 feet of underground phone cable in the mail...LOLOLOLOL!!!!!!....i'm actually bewildered....i guess its too much to ask of these company's to come while the work is easier....but i guess its all about making money and laying the screws to the everday people....so just a word of advice...if you ever build a house, save some cash and just do it yourself....and yes the PUC wants you lay pvc pipe at 27.50$ per 10 feet so, you'll have to run that pipe as well.......other places want 50$ per 10 feet of pipe so shop wisely...and buyer beware...

That is just retarded that they make you do that and won't come out and install it when the trench is there, instead of having to dig up your lawn etc.

Hey Electric, doesn't it give you "BIG ONES" when dealing with Bell & Shaw. The same hassles my friend had when he changed the service for his electrical. He ended up just running the cables underground then called them to hook up everything. He had more of a hassle but they ended up hooking it up. (This was about 4 yrs ago, so I don't know if they do anything different now.) Good Luck!!

Wow- that sounds silly. Not a very customer friendly policy is it?

It doesn't surprise me about them. Sorry you had to go through all that bull. At least you are lucky enough to be able to do it yourself. Think of the people who can't and never factored in bullpoop from those companies in their budgets. Sad.
