Default Change of subject- Getting your license

Ok normally you get your license for the first time as a teen.
Now for those who wait later in life to do it for what ever reason, where is the best place to learn?

I think the older you are when you get it the more nervous you are.

I waited till I was older, and went to Howsen's... Ithink I'm a better driver for waiting

The cost is about 600 bucks and includes inclass sessions and 10 hours of actually driving a car provided by the driving school.

I have a friend who didn't get hers until she was in her 30s. She swears by driving school for confidence and ability. She had her beginners a buch of times before, but was always too nervous until she went to drivers ed.
Maybe it's just easier to let you know when I'm being serious.

I was in my mid 20's and went to Howson's and did private classes vs the group classes (to avoid being in a class full of teenagers lol) and they were great. It was really laid back and I was taught a lot of important skills that have probably saved my ass on more than one occasion!

Was it more money in comparison to group?

I went to our driving school when I was 16. I also went back for a refresher lesson the day before I took my G. It was like 60 or 70 for an hour lesson.

I don't remember the exact numbers, but it was less than $100 difference.

I knew I read this somewhere.

    http://www.iforum.umontreal.ca/Forum...cle01_ang.html

“In Ontario,” the researcher's article states, “drivers aged 16 to 19 years who took driving courses had a 45% higher collision rate than the group that did not take a course.”

So what you are actually saying is that they had a 55% LOWER collision rate. Which is Good.

A teacher can teach the driver ed course...but are those students listeneing? I suspect a lot of those 16 year olds think they are smarter than the teacher and feel they know all there is to know. Also...once they get the license...they drive the way THEY WANT TO...not as the teacher trained them. Its not the driving schools fault.

Probably get over confident, on top of their natural tendency to feel invulnerable.

So if they drive the way they want anyway, why waste your bucks getting your kid through driving school??

And BTW, the insurance saving doesn't cover the cost of the schooling BTDT.

She was asking for someone later in life than 16 who is nervous. Hardly a waste of money for someone interested enough to ask for a place.
