Anyone have a good one that actually does his job, and cares?

I've been working with Arthur Girard at Rivet Insurance(949-1985) for years. He's very honest and will show you all the rates. Highly recommend.

Every industry has their good and bad apples. And there is a difference between Insurance Brokers and Insurance Companies. Brokers don't work for any one company directly, they are supposed to represent the consumer to the insurance companies.

Algoma Insurance has been good to me but like everything in business, you're best bet is to get a good refferal from some who's opinion you trust.

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but we've been dealing with Paciocco and Mills for years, for car and home insurance and have been very satisfied.

I spoke with a lady at P&M yesterday, as I felt my current company is not doing it's job. I've had to call my broker several times over the last 8 mths, left several msgs and they weren't returned! Anyways, the lady at P&M was really great and helpful! I've also had good experience with Rivet, and Doug Sykes insurance as well.

I deal with Fraser Wilkinson of Deeks Insurance in Markham. They are incredible. Our policy was up in April and he called last week and said we found you a better deal on your home and auto...a savings of $400 a year without us asking him to. He did this for my mom's auto as well when it was coming up for renewal. He shops around for you. They do the searching for you and always try to find the best rate. Very easy to deal with...send you your forms through snail mail with a prepaid envelope to send back. Very quick at answering your questions and honest.

When we were opeing our home daycare it is very hard to get the extra liability for daycare operation. I talked to a few here in town as well as Fraser and lets say they weren't on the up and up here in town, They wanted to fudge how many kids etc.... to get the best rate which wasn't that much lower than the rate we ended up getting with Deeks. So we stayed with them and knew we were protected. Now he shopped around and we have a new policy and a savings of $400.

I use Saija at Dawson and Keenan for my brokerage needs. We started out there with Janice, who is an awesome lady, and deals mainly with new clients, so we were transferred to Saija, and I have no complaints. I am going to request some shopping around for our car insurance though, cause I have been paying too much, for far too long.

I have been with Doug Sykes for over 14 years now. Dave was my man to deal with there but as of late he moved to Rivet Insurance at the Churchill Plaza. I am going to be changing to them at renewal cause Dave has been the only one who actually does stuff for his clients with no complaints. A word of caution though! STAY AWAY FROM GORD ROYAL!

I've just recently moved my homeowners insurance to a new broker in town. All Risks - on Great Northern Road. They were great.
He was able to get me coverage on my camp - which is log and very difficult to place - for some strange reason Insurance companies don't like LOG.

My previous company was going to increase us by an unbelievable amount - and they were able to get me substancially increased coverage for $100 less then I had paid the year before.

Actually a log home will burn slower but cost more to repair, due in part to having to remove log by log, from the top down. Some companies insure them Log by log. Which is crazy.... the camp is a 50 year old log cabin. not a $200,000 home. My previous insurance company changed their policy on rural properties - they considered anything outside of the city - unprotected, so even though I can hear the firetrucks when they leave the station, they said I had no fire protection, and were going to raise my insurance by $1000 a year.

Regardless... I got a GREAT deal with the guys from ALL-RISKS!

They are called BROKERS for a reason. They should ALL be shopping around for the best deal for us. IF not..switch. EVERYy ear I shop arou nd and then show my present carrier the savings I have found elsewhere. All of a sudden they are able to somehow match it. 53 YEARS OF ACCIDENT FREE DRIVING AND MY INSURANCE HAS NEVER GONE down.

I would also recommend Arthur from Rivet. He managed to save us a good bit of money on our house and car insurance. He was very open and up front about our options, and showed us all of the comparisons

Not saying Arthur is bad, just showing that different companies WILL help you out. I switched away from Arthur and Rivet and saved $50 a MONTH.

Shop around and get your prices, but take advice here for the best person to work for you.

Yet again Claude has come over to my house since I couldn't take time away from work to go do paper work. He has called me 2 months before my renewal and such "Your rates are going up, let's shop around".

We called Rivet for a quote, talked to a really nice lady on the phone, worked out the details of what coverage we were looking for, and got told that we would get a call on Monday with the cost. Well, over a month later and we're still waiting for that Monday phone call. Needless to say, we've not pursued it any further.

People have to shop around, there is only so much a place can do for you. I personally like the service I get. Allstar and the other big names can bite me, they wouldn't give me a break when I first started driving, so they will not get any of mymoney.

I pay $185 a month for 07 Jetta, 02 F150, (Both with full insurance and $500 deductible) and full house insurance. And he's shopping around right now to get it cheaper.
