Default Well, Protestants, It's Not Like You Weren't Warned

You jumped in bed with the mainstream media faster than Bill Clinton with an intern when the media decided to focus on the Roman Catholic Church. You provided the media a staunch ally as the story was blown way out of proportion. Most of you sat idly by as the Pope was demeaned by lies and half-truths.

Well, your ally, the secular media, has turned on you. Now, you're in their sights. And you really have no one to blame but yourself.

"The unmarked graves of 40 children from a Protestant residential institution have been discovered in a Dublin cemetery. They contain the bodies of former residents of the Bethany home in Rathgar and date from 75 years ago.

A group of survivors, who say they suffered gross neglect there, are demanding access to the state's redress scheme, which applies to similar institutions. Bethany was a combined maternity and children's home and a place of detention for women convicts.

According to recently discovered records, the infant residents were buried in Mount Jerome cemetery between 1935 and 1936. On average, more than one in 10 babies died each month. A researcher, Niall Meehan, has established the names of all 40 babies in and around two adjoining common graves."

"The North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church said it is investigating allegations of sexual abuse by a pastor, who is now retired. The man is alleged to have sexually abused several young people in a congregation in Ahrensburg.

The allegations come during a scandal of sexual abuse by clergy that has hit the Catholic Church in Germany. A recent ecumenical church convention in Munich heard calls for reform and greater transparency in the Catholic Church to deal with what has been called a crisis of confidence.

Protestant leaders, however, have acknowledged their churches are also caught up in the scandal."

    Ally? Warned about what?

The criminals in the Lutheran church or any other church guilty of abuse should be fried too. What's your point?
The problem with quotes on the internet is that you can never be certain they're authentic.

Why are you guys so preoccupied with the RCC, but totally ignore the mess in your own churches?

"Our own churches" are not every Protestant church in the world, whereas your own churches are every RCC in the world. When will that get through your thick skull?

Protestant is NOT a denomination nor an organization. I have NO relationship whatsoever with any churches, nor do I answer for any churches outside of my own denomination.

    Neither are you.

Except that your denomination is huge. And so the Pope must answer for every RCC out there.
    Nice try though.

Wow, is that the best you got???

This is the best someone in your position can do???

You are Protestants, all. Your faith has a few shared, basic fundamentals, not the least of which is Sola Scriptura. In that sense, you are of the same cloth. You reject the authority of Rome, that again cuts all of you from the same cloth.

And last but not least it is you that was so focused upon the RCC scandals. You were convinced, no doubt, these problems most certainly did not exist in Protestantism as they did in Catholicism.

Then the numbers came out. And you were wrong. And you recoiled in anger and confusion.

Now, you are at the point where you want to simply dismiss the grotesque abuse of children in Protestant schools back in the Thirties; a fact that shows abuse has been a constant in Protestant circles for a long time.

So, so sad to see what you've become.

"Get out of my way, abused Protestant children...I gots me a Catholic Church to take down!!"

    It's all about the coverups.
''Our culture has accepted two huge lies: The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.''
