    Default U7 soccer

SO I have been trying to get ahold of the sysc for a few days now because the U7 boys is supposed to start on monday and I have yet to recieve a call from a coach. I am planning on going away this weekend and I don't know if he starts on monday. If he doesn't start on monday then I will stay an extra day. Their friggan mailbox has been full for like 3 days now. If anyone has any info or anyone else i can contact that would be great. Has anyone else got a call from a coach?

I got a call from my son's coach this afternoon. He is U8 boys. We have a practice tomorrow and they said games start next week, but didn't tell me a day or time. Fun stuff. I haven't gotten a call yet for my daughter for U5.

When we were registered we were told that U7 boys play on Tuesdays. The first games are this Tuesday coming up but I am also still waiting for a call for both my boys (U5 & U7). Doesn't help that they extended the registration deadline until May 25th.

A friend of mine is coaching U7 girls and she has just received her team information this week but has already called her players. Would be nice to know times etc... as I have two boys in different leagues who both play on Tuesdays.

U10 girls is drafted..& I know for a fact they've had their draft games (if not already put on teams..) you may want to look into that? My daughter is U11.. and her practice is tonight..first game Monday.. However I didn't get a call for U5 girls or U7 boys yet.. but I'm not worried..it always seems to work out!! Good luck to all the little soccer players this year!!

Chances are good that the convener for your son's age group, Giggle Squirt, will be the same this year. Maybe pop on to the SYSL website, find the convener's number from last year? I know that last Thursday was the U12 or 13 draft for girls, Friday was the same age for boys, and U15 girls got calls over the weekend... Maybe the draft is done oldest to youngest, and that's why the younger kids always get the later calls.

What are they supposed to do? Everything is volunteer, and if they don't have enough volunteer coaches, are they supposed to pull one out of their collective butt? Have you volunteered to coach? Be a bench Mom? A convener? Scheduler? It's like with kids and the schools...the it's always the same parents driving for every field trip. These volunteers have jobs, families...are they supposed to give it all up because most WON'T volunteer?

why would you have to volunteer if you want your kid to go, that's what the all mighty dollar pays for
it's up to them to find people to fill the positions, if they are having trouble maybe they should put out some kind of ad asking for help
not all parents are athletically inclined or have the knowledge/ability to run sports but that doesn't mean their kids should have less chance to play

Finally got phone calls for both my boys today. They both play Tuesday, at different fields. Should be fun!

I would volunteer to coach but I dont know the rules for soccer other than not touching it with your hands. My coach in elementary school never taught us anything about the rules of the game, he just sent us onto the field and told us to kick the ball until the ref blew the whistle. I still dont understand what "offside" means... its probably the only sport I wouldnt be comfortable coaching.

Well, if no one volunteers, the kids don't play. Simple enough? And that almighty dollar pays for no coaches or convenors. Their time is donated so that the price is low enough that most parents can afford for their kids to play. The only ones paid that I'm aware of are the referees, who are mostly students.

Do you think all the coaches played soccer themselves? No. There are free coaching clinics for different levels, and you aren't the one playing, so you don't need to be athletically inclined. Sure it helps if you played as a kid, but it's not necessary.

For all of you that complain about coaches and bench moms etc, I would like to see you volunteer all summer, no vacation because you have committed to these children, listen to whining parents and hope that you are going to have enough players attend each game. A simple thank you would go a long way. Remember without us there would be no summer games.

First of all, Why is it that you always pick on me, second of all you know nothing about what I do with my kids, To me if you are running such a league weather its volunteer, or not, HAVE the DUCKS in order before the seasons start.

I am sorry but between coaches, and refs for these games s well as conveners, etc..... IT was a complete mess, as for a sport that is inexpensive.. ya it is, but every tom **** and harrys kid plays it, add these funds up, what uniforms cost etc.. THEY are making some coin.. DONT let it fool you.

I pay like everyone else does, Its not the only sport my kids do.. and In my eyes for the money me and every other parent pays in my eyes it should be more organized.. JMO if I was asked to volunteer, and did not have a bad Knee I would be on that feild in a minute, but unfortantly beacuase of a serious Knee ingury as a child, and a surgury I am incapable of playing such sports now.

as for whinning, even our coach for draft games was p'oed with they way it was handled.
