    Default If its too good to be true, it probably isnt.!

    My husband and I, were looking for a motorhome....
    this is the letter she sent us,

    Hello,

    My unit it's in perfect condition without any mechanical problems, no damages or hidden defects, no need for additional repairs, clear title without any accidents. I have all the unit manuals, all the documents and papers. It was always garaged and the price is CAD $3,100.

    I`m a single mother with 2 children because i divorced with my husband and after the divorce i own this unit, i don`t need it and that`s why i`m selling it so cheap.

    My unit is at the shipping company in Hamilton,Ontario.
    Because I always use 100% safe methods, I tried to stop the listing on Buysell and I've sent the unit through eBay Vehicle Protection Program to a buyer from Halifax Nova Scotia. I paid all the shipping fees from my unit and when eBay requested the payment to be made, the buyer refused to pay because he didn't had full amount. Now I have the unit in eBay's hands and it's ready to be delivered to the next buyer.
    I will use eBay`s protection program for our safety because I am affiliated there with a
    protection account of $20000.I will send you the unit and you have 5 days inspection
    period,before you decide to buy it.If for any reason you reject the unit I will pay the
    shipping back to my location.The unit will be delivered at your home address full registered in your state and under your name.
    Here is how it will work:
    1. First of all I will need the following details from you:
    * Full Name,
    * Full Shipping Address (First name,Last name,Shipping Address,City,Postal Code),
    * Phone number.

    I will get everything started immediately.

    P.S. Please don`t forget to send me your info!

    Best Regards !
    Johanna Paz

    now she was asking $3100.00 for a motorhome that is worth well over $200,000.00

    then you look at some other sites, where she is selling other items, and she uses an identical letter.

    http://www.snowandmud.com/forum/f76/...ams-24185.html

    the phone numbers to contact her never work. and of course we did not fall for it. However, we mentioned it to a neighbour, and he felt like checking it out. He called the city police in Hamilton, and was told, that this woman sold the same "imaginary" item, more then 30 times. No-one gets their money back, they have a long file on her, but to date they have not been able to catch her. She uses different names and different email addresses.
    Buyer BeWAre! as advanced as technology is, how can this woman continue to get away with this.
    The sites she advertizes in pull the ad's when they become aware that its a scam. And then she comes in with a different phone number and info and puts ads in again and again.

    She claims to only accept money from paypal, so couldnt paypal catch her? I don't know. I just think its a really lousy thing to do to people.

    Obvious scammer, poor attempt.
    If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't (true).
    If it's too good to be true, it probably is (too good to be true).

    Sorry, original posters topic makes more sense. LOL

    Grammatically, the OP header is phrased wrong.

    "If IT'S too good to be true, IT probably isn't."

    "IT" being the subject.

    So by Primetime saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is". Keeping "IT" as the subject, he or she is saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is true".

    Keeping "IT" as the subject, saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't" is saying "IT" probably isn't true.

    The original poster had it correct. Missing an apostrophe, but it's correct.

    But you are creating a double negative. By saying it is not TOO good to be true, then you are saying it is probably true. Get it?

    Think about it:
    It's too good to be true means it isn't true.
    That is why the idiom finished with "It probably IS too good to be true (i.e. it isn't)

    So when you say If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't.. you are saying It's NOT to good to be true, which means it is true.
    The OP has it wrong,and so do you.

    But, for your entertainment, here you go.
    The heart of the human problem is the problem of the human heart.
