Somehow, I wish I could say I am surprised..but I am not. the US is one of the largest arms dealers on this planet. The income generated from this is phenomenal. It has also armed most of their enemies..but what the hay, at least they get money out of it right?

So the result would be that Iraq is left with 2 or 3 factions, armed to the hilt (because we know they'll get their hands on these weapons their neighbours will have), fighting each other and no US troops. The question is "To what end?"

Chako, the mideast has been armed to the teeth for the last four decades.

The U.S., because it has a transparent form of government, is announcing what they are doing; and what they are doing is trying to equal out the massive amounts of arms dealt to certain mideast regimes from Iran, Russia, and other countries of the like. The only difference is those countries do not have a transparent form of government, and do not publish things of the nature for common knowledge.

Below is the US foreign middle east policy:

Let's equal out the amount of arms by providing them to whoever wants them in that region. If they happen to use them to shoot on us, we just shoot back.
And yes, we could put an end to this by not getting involved and not providing weapons and let them slug it out amongst themselves.
But we have to make sure we do not kill our own business interests in said region, and as such it's to our benefit to keep the conflict fueled as much as we can, without making it to obvious.
