On Septemeber 25-26th, the Coalition for Algoma Passenger Trains (CAPT) invites you to celebrate the 92nd Anniversary of the Group of Seven painting on the Algoma Central Railway.

This all day event includes a scenic train ride from Sault Ste. Marie to Searchmont Resort which travels through a spectacular display of fall colours. Reproductions of the Group of Sevenís art will be on display. This yearís event focuses on Group of Seven artist J.E.H MacDonald. His grand-niece Susan MacDonald will be at Searchmont to give a presentation about her grand-uncle and his work. Participants will have the option of registering in one of several art workshops in oil/acrylic, watercolor, photography, sketching, Anishinaabe art or take a guided nature walk.

Musical entertainment will be provided on the train and during the gourmet lunch!

Ticket prices for this portion of the event is as follows:
(prices include cost of workshops and gourmet lunch).
$55.00 for the train from Sault Ste. Marie to Searchmont and bus ride back
$45.00 for bus to Searchmont from Sault Ste. Marie and bus back.
$35.00 for own transportation to and from event.

Those who are only interested in the 1-day Searchmont portion will be shuttled back to Sault Ste. Marie via bus at 4pm.

The event has expanded this year to include an optional second day portion to travel from Searchmont to Wawa after the dayís events. For those interested, registration for this second day portion in Wawa includes cost of overnight accommodations, meals, activities and presentations. Participants will leave Wawa the following afternoon and return to SSM along 165 miles via train from Hawk Junction station while listening to commentary from Michael Burtch, Joanie and Gary McGuffin as we pass by the locations where the Group of Seven painted some of the their most famous work.
