I need all the information and ideas I can get for a simple, non-denominational wedding here in the Sault.
I am considering setting it up so that the ceremony and reception are at the same place, so any ideas to help me with that would be great.

Thinking outside the box??
Tugboat ride??
Watching and laughing!!!
Rent the former Soo Locks Tour boat that sits idle on the water front.
I also attended an outdoor wedding at Crimson Ridge that was beyond words...beautiful setting at the edge of the woods.
They have a great outdoor tent for the reception. You would never know you were in a tent.
Another nice spot might be somewhere around the Locks.

that crimson ridge sounds nice! i wonder if you could rent stokley creek out in goulais and all stay there in the cabins afterward? we had our dinner on the soo locks boat and it was wonderful. i fully and totally recommend it! you can also reserve/rent the area at bellview (sp?) park by the water. (it has a roof and several picnic tables underneath). joseph's homestead is nice, i went to a party there a few years ago and they did a fantastic job. ive heard nice things of buttermilk too. or i think out at batchewanna, the sch...... hoff (i really cant spell it) where you can have the whole thing and then everyone stays out there in the motel rooms, ive heard its wonderful also.
i had a come & go right after the church at my parents in the yard. we rented a big tent just in-case it rained and we did up our own cold-cut, cheese, fruit & dessert trays and served beer, wine and non alcoholic. i liked it because it was open to everyone. the dinner on the boat was fairly small, only 48 guests
good luck with your plans! i know one of the chaplains who does the non de-nom ceremonies and she is so nice.
kitca is talking about the Salzburger Hof Resort. I just checked, they have a website. I hear it's gorgeous out there, but I've never been. I've also heard the food is very good.

How big a wedding are you planning on having?
I recommend Amanda Zuke for an officiant, I was more than happy with her services at my wedding, and would choose her again! She's the best!
Stonehouse Wines has an awesome wedding package, and their wine is awesome.
I sent you a PM with some info and a phone number. You will find my suggestion and my friends insight very useful in your planning as he goes out of his way to assist his clients without charging extra or over inflated fees.
When I make up a lie and can not back out of it, I will just say I am leaving town for a funeral and that should cover up the lie.

Thanks so much for all the replies. I'm not sure how many guests we'll be having; I'm hoping we can keep it small. This is pretty overwhelming!
My Gdaughter is getting married in Aug. 2011. She has booked the Water Tower and is getting married in their garden. Both couples are not the same denomination and so no church.
We attended a wedding last year that was at Camp Wakonda. It was awesome. They had the ceremony on the beach, and the reception in the dining hall. They had family bbq - huge chunks of beef, they roasted turkeys and had amazing food all around.
People were encouraged to stay at the camp - bring a tent, reserve a cabin or bring your own RV. There must have been 100 people.
Our cousins rented the entire facility for the weekend, and it was terrific.
Attitude is contagious - is your's worth catching?

I went to one at the Country Club down on Queen last summer. It was absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for all the replies! I'm still trying to keep things small but the groom-to-be wants to invite everyone we know! I think he may be more exited than I am about all this, lol
Ideas, dont get married, i was reading about a hot celeb who didnt believe in it! Its a piece of paper, marriage can be an issue, people change. I know many couples who are separated or together and miserable!
I read an awesome quote from marilyn monroe, "better to alone and miserable then to be with someone and miserable" lol, something like that.
Marriage is not just a piece of paper. It is a commitment 2 people make to each other and a unified bond!
