It isn't a real Gibson, those ones are made in China.
Ahh the Chinese rip-offs. You still hear about some people getting sucked into these. If you frequent eBay there are specific write-ups for these fake Chinese guitars and fake microphones etc.
They have Paul Reed Smith, Gibson, Ibanez etc etc and from what I've seen they usually have obvious differences.
Gibsons: Look at the inlay work on the headstock (logo). Those will tell you right away. The fake one's will be solid white and the authentic ones have the abalone inlay (pearly look if you're unsure what abalone is). The serial number on the fakes are usually hand written or printed in a marker where as authentic Gibsons are stamped into the wood.
PRS: Right peak on the headstock, always out of proportion. Lower cutaway, something always looks wrong there as well. Again, the inlay work is not even close in comparison.
Ibanez (Jems): I haven't looked much at these so I'm not positive how to spot these right off hand but if you play one the guitar goes out of tune on the first dive-bomb from what I hear.

Too good to be true indeed. Personally, if you want to buy a cheap knock-off for yourself & pass it off as the real deal to impress, that's okay with me. If you're trying to resell it as the genuine real deal, that's a problem. These fakes are here in town & are being sold or parted out as genuine. Heads up.
Willy aren't you the co-owner of superguitar with your cousin Chad Wong?
Yup. We're busy making Royd Flose tremolos, Pes Laul & Ibonex guitars.
Can you get me a good deal on a Fendar Tellercaster and a Princetone Revarb amp ?
200 BUX - What a deal !
