Horrible speeds with Shaw lately

The past few weeks have been the worst for me.
We subscribe to their extreme speed averaging 12-14 mg down.
Lately I'm lucky if I get 9?

Here is what I have done

Discoed router , direct conn modem to PC
unplugged power, reconnected
all the inter stuff like temp files cleaned.
I purchased a new router,
exchanged my modem
Tried 4 different PC's directly connected.
Coax cable has been replaced.
Shaw tech has been here they can't figure it out except is "maybe they are doing upgrades in the area"
but of course he wouldn't know for sure so honestly he did everything on his end as well and can't figure out why its so slow?
Anyways I was wondering if anyone else noticed a decrease in their shaw internet.
As well as what alternatives do I have besides shaw that will give be a better connection and speeds?

1) they advertise up to 15MB/s speeds.
2) you can only download as fast as the source is uploading.

How do you check your computer speed? I just switched to shaw extreme speed as well and I think it sucks.

Yeah I did that one too. I swear the extreme is slower than the lite speed at times.

What does the ping mean?

Call up Shaw tech support and have them check the data traffic on your node. An overloaded node will cause the issues you are having.

A ping represents the time it takes for a data packet to reach the destination. In the case of the speed test it's how long it takes to reach the location that hosts the speed test program. It should be 30 ms or so.

i now use a gigabit network card and speeds have in=mproved
maybe give that a try if it's a desktop

Your not the only ones . Over the past month its been getting worse today WOW here were my results om Shaws speedtest and I am also on Extreme

After I had a tech here they cant figure out anything, as Hans said earlier some nodes have heavier loads than others when they split mine last time my speeds where actually better than the 15megs they promise but here we go again . When I talked to customer service and expressed how dissatisfied I was she was like take your business else where talk about customer service. Well since they are being jerks so can I get there techs out to my place till they get the damn thing running at the speeds I'm paying for. My old Bell DSL was at least constant at 6megs not like SHAW all over the place.

Shaw finally admited to me my node is saturated. After a month of back and forth calling and techs.
However they have no idea when it will be fixed.

I would be demanding a partial refund for that as well as a future discount until the problem is resolved.

Thanks for the link Krysta! I'm a new Shaw internet customer, I have Extreme and have used the link that Krysta posted as well, here are my results 9:20PM

Download 14.92mbps
Upload 0.78mbps

Can anyone explain in simple terms why these numbers vary each time I run the test? I've had download #'s as high as 19.??mbps and as low as 10.??mbps within the last couple days that I've started checking since the link was posted by Krysta.... does it depend on traffic in my area?? I would like to know how this works....

Traffic on your node and internet traffic in general affects speed measurements and ping times. You will never be able to get the same results twice.
