    Default does anyone know..**important**

Please mods keep this here just for a little while, thank you....

I was wondering if anyone knows if salbutamol (puffer for asthma) still works after expiry date, and if so how long after? I am in Toronto and lost my puffer, but I had one here but it expired in April, I do not have any refills until I can call my doc on Monday. My breathing is not serious enough to go to the hospital, and I do know all the tricks and remedies for asthma.

Thanks to those that have the answer!!

all I could suggest is to try it and if it helps great if it doesn't you're aren't out anything.

Call an all night pharmacy (Shoppers?) down there, and the pharmacist will tell you.

no pharmacist in his right mind will tell u to use some medicine that expired
if something bad happens, somebody would say so & so pharmacist said it was ok!!!
i dont think they would get themselves in that situation.

personally, i say go for it.
i once used expired viagara & after that, my right arm extended over my head for 4 hours!!

I have used it before when it was expired and it worked fine. My doctor said it was fine to use but as it gets older it loses its strength, but if thats all you have than to use it.

if you call the pharmisist down there they may give you enough to get you through the weekend if you show them the expired puffer with your name on it.

i have used a puffer 8 months after it expired, although you may have to take an extra due to losing its strength like Ocean said

I have asked many doctors that same question. (I use a nasal spray for allergies.) All the docs answer the same way - a prescription doesn't suddenly turn to poison when it expires. The only thing that happens is that it loses strength. IOW, it might take more of the stuff than it did when it was brand new.
    I don't think we're in Kansas anymore!

The drug store will give you a emergency puffer as well.
