    Default Vet Visit...mini rant

I took my Daisy over to the vet this morning. (McCrumbs). I had an extremely long wait time, for having the first time slot of the day. My appt was for 8:30, and I didn't see a vet until 9:40. That's a long wait. It appeared that only one vet was working today. The waiting room only had 2 other people in it, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. So when he finally came in the exam room(20 minutes after I had been sitting in there), I sort of jokingly said "Whew, I thought you guys forgot about me!" No smile, no "sorry, I know, we're so busy today", Nadda. Wow.

Anyway.....this is the second time I have seen the new guy they hired, and I must say, I don't care for him at all. He has the bedside manner of a clod. And I also find him arrogant and aloof. A far cry from Ken and Cindy. I feel bad for them, having someone like this new person working for him. I am not impressed, and kind of feel that he brings down their good reputation by association!

So, he looked at Daisy's ears, which is why I went in. Gave her a shot of cortisone for itching and swelling and prescribed anti-biotics. When I asked what he thought it was, he kind shrugged his shoulders and said "dermatitis". Oh, ok.

So, yeah, overall, not impressed with this new guy. Next time I call for an appt, I will be specifying that my dogs see Cindy or Ken. And another thing...he doesn't even greet the dog. Or pet it. That seems really cold to me. Cindy and Ken treat my dogs like their own pets each and every time. I mean, he doesn't have to fawn over them but at least give the dog a little pet! She's sitting there shaking and he's Mr. Let's Get Down To Business. Grr.

Has anyone else seen him yet?

Soon as they have lots of complaints and request to see them. Things will change.

Yeah, I hope others will speak up as well. And when I DO see them, I'll politely let them know how I feel. I don't expect the world. Just some common social niceties, and at least pretend like you care!

And before anyone says it may be ME that's the problem....I am always one of those very friendly, glass half full, assume the best kind of people. I don't look for fault. He just has this edge to him that doesn't seem right.

going there tomorrow with my litter of puppies. I will let you know who I get and how they are. I would complain too, I have dealt with both of the McCrumbs over the years , they are the most understanding/caring Vets I have come across in a long time. One of the reasons I switched to them a number of years ago.

I was there a month or so ago and McCrumbs have sold the business. Not sure what the new owners name is but he seemed friendly enough while we were there. Sorry about your bad experience. While we were there we waited all day, he had one emergency after the other.

Oh! I didn't know they sold it! Hmmm...I'll have to think about whether I want to stay there now or not.

When I was there a couple of weeks ago, I was told by the receptionist that Dr. Ken & Cindy McCrumb have retired. They will be missed dearly. They were a awesome team of vets and very very caring and loyal...

We've dealt with the new woman vet a few times now, she's wonderful. Very caring and thorough.

We had the male at our last appointment. He did greet our dog and pet him. They're a very busy clinic, just coming off a long holiday weekend. So maybe it was just a case of he was really stressed/busy.

After our puppy died, the male vet called us to talk about it as soon as he got out of surgery. Probably right around when your appointment was. Sorry you had such a bad experience with him.

I also just heard McCrumbs sold, and it is the nice younger lady, who owns it... the person said she is very caring, Im not really sure as I deal with another vet over there... but this person has 4 dogs and says the new lady owner is awsome, if not better then the McCrumbs..

People in the pet professions are humans too. They have good days and bad days and like all of us their personal lives affect their moods and performance at work. Be it a Vet, Groomer, Trainer, etc... some have the option to cancel appointments because we know we are having a bad day... Vets can't and they deal with more than groomers and trainers do. They deal with diseases and death of furry family members and they also deal with the human mommies and daddies who are hurting. Maybe the issue you had was an isolated incident?

I've seen him twice now, and had that same sort of aloof, arrogant type of attitude. I know what you mean tho, about them having good and bad days, and certainly wouldn't fault them on the basis of one bad visit. But twice now he's rubbed me the wrong way. I dunno.....I'm always super friendly and a cheerful person, so I know it's not any vibe that I'm putting out there. Oh well....maybe next time I'll just request the other vet when I call to make the appt.
