I realize that as a European this does not bother you at all, because Europeans long ago sacrificed their freedom at the altar of government. But for those of us that still remember what life without intrusive government is like, this is a concern.

It should lower the Spam originating from the USA. Make it easier to combat online fraud. Make it easier to fill in online government forms, using online banking. You can legally sign documents with a digital signature. Etc...
