thank you it's gone!! I had to purchase Spyhunter on line for the removal. The scan is free, the removal is not!! It also came with Registry Medic, which I think is actually the program that removed Security Sheild! All in all, I got a lot of things fixed between the 2 programs, thanks again. I got my computer back!!!
wow I feel sorry for people who fall for that program for the money it's a rip off you can do everything it does with free programs and it has no real time protection.
If Your reading this the topic must be boring.
Could you tell us the free programs please?I hate when i download something and then find out that I will have to pay for it to do its job of removing a virus or something
avast antivirus program. Its free.. it normally catches all the viruses and whatnot
Its always FUN to do the IMPOSSIBLE
I use a combination of tools to remove viruses and spyware:
Spybot Search and Destroy - www.safer-networking.org
Malwarebytes - www.malwarebytes.org
Kaspersky TDSSKiller for Rootkit Viruses http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363
Avast Antivirus is an effective Antivirus program and there is a free version - www.avast.com
Don't run more than one Antivirus program or your machine might slow down or hang. Before installing a new one, make sure any old one is completely removed.
To clean out viruses on your machine I've also used Trend Micro's Housecall, a web based scanner
http://housecall.trendmicro.com
A cloud based Antivirus scanner called Hitman Pro is also availalbe if you visit
http://www.surfright.nl
A good tool that I subscribe to to keep your machine running smoothly is called "System Mechanic" from Iolo Labs.
http://www.iolo.com - there is a 30 day trial version - that has some functionality disabled.
I've been doing PC Tune Ups and virus removal for many years now and have a great success rate. Many shops will just want to reformat your machine and reload. For me, that is a last resort. I'm usually able to recover most data files from the machine before going to such extremes.
If anyone needs help with virus removal, feel free to contact me for a quote. I pick up the machine at your home, and return it a day or two later (depending on amount of work required). I charge a flat rate for virus/spyware removal and a machine tune up of $70. The price can be less if the problems are not too extreme. If data backup and/or a machine operating system reload is required the price can be a bit higher too. Many people are still running older machines with Windows XP but are complaining of slow machine response. Many machines running Windows XP can get a bit more service life with a simple memory upgrade. If your XP machine has 500MB or less of RAM in it, you'll see a performance improvement if you upgrade the amount of RAM to 1GB or more. Similarly Windows Vista needs more yet as it is a more resource intensive operating system.

Further to my post above, if you find System Mechanic useful and would like to purchase the full version, use this link:
http://share2.iolo.com/a/clk/2mwTsG
and you'll save 50% off their regular price of $49.95 - you'll get a year subscription for $24.95. Once you are onboard, Iolo usually sends you messages that tell you that you can extend your subscription by a year for a good deal, I think I've paid about $14.95 per year for the past two or three years.

Pardon me all to heck. You said, "Paying for any software is silly, silly, silly." What were we to think??
I'm trying to remember when I had to go and get some of that freeware yet again. Oh yeah, years ago.
Reminds me of another favourite saying, "Any problem solved by mere money is not much of a problem."
