Any time you get an email like this, it's a hoax. If this were to actually happen it would be all over the news and all over windows website.

Gee I wish they would delete my account. Been trying to get rid of it for a year now. I would rather have yahoo.ca for my extra account.

However in closing that is a spam letter with someone trying to take over your account. At least I think so.

MSN specifically states in their Terms of Use that they'll never ask you for said information. Blizzard, Hotmail, MSN, Gmail, and a few other major companies experience this stuff all the time. Some kids hack the servers and get mass emails across posing as the entity they're doing the hoax through just to cause damage, get your personal information, or steal your money. A lot of people do online banking. Some places allow you to send your registration information to your email and they can then get whatever they want.

It's ill-advised to ever pay attention to this stuff. My opinion, place your real phone number in your account details (it always remains hidden). If they need to get ahold of you, they can and will call. That's the general rule I follow.

Spam. Ask yourself a simple question : how would they verify your Date of Birth, since they don't even know your name?

Delete it through junk. It takes 'em a while to find you again.

Does that really make a difference?
Asking because I have never heard of this before.

also be careful if you have a paypal or ebay account as periodically you may receive a message asking you to verify your info as well....I don't think there is a legitimate online site that would EVER email you and ask you to verify your account information!
