    Default A Natural Progression

A Protestant renewal organization is concerned about the recent efforts of some mainline Protestant churches to produce an ecumenical reconciliation between Christianity and Islam.

According to a recent blog post from The Last Crusade, congregations in several metropolitan areas -- Houston, Atlanta, Seattle, and Detroit -- preached sermons and held Sunday school lessons recently on the founder of Islam, Mohammad, whom Muslims consider a prophet. Qurans were also placed in the pews next to Bibles.

Proponents of the movement, which has been dubbed "Chrislam"...

With no provocation you're on an anti-Protestant kick again, huh?

Know how they make those matrixes that compare cell phone plans, cars and other things feature by feature side by side? I think it'd be really cool if someone could do the same with religions. Especially all these Christian sects. Just to highlight the points of similarity and difference - especially the differences.

Yup that's the general idea. Maybe in a little more detail would be good, but I like especially the second one with the comparison between Christianity and Islam with Judaism in the middle. Interesting.

Does it matter, because we would hardly call a church "Christian" if it had no theological problems with Islam???
''Our culture has accepted two huge lies: The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.''

Interesting. Those charts, though not very detailed, seemed to indicate that there is quite a bit of commonality between Christianity and Islam. I'm talking about the basics, not all the nitpicking some of you people seem to think are so important.

I would not call a rejection of Christ as nitpicking. That is not only basic, but it is the central distinctive between Islam and Christianity.

Sorry, maybe I misread your charts earlier in the thread. I will look again. And no, that would not be nitpicking - that is a basic tenet.

Islam regards Christ as a prophet but they claim his message was corrupted. That would put them in control of his message.
Islam also does not believe that Christ is divine, the Son of God, who died in our place for our sins.
And ISlam denies the resurrection of CHrist.

They reject his deity, the atonement and His resurrection. That pretty much guts Christianity.
