I have always wondered, are they considered to have an afterlife?

In the Bible there is no clear teaching on the disposition of animals following death.
Although it appears that there are animals in the future world that the Bible paints. I do not think these will be resurrected animals though.
The heart of the human problem is the problem of the human heart.
There is no clear equivalent in English for the word translated soul. In fact the King James version apparently uses 25 different words to translate it to English.
This makes an answer impossible, and opinion takes over. Perhaps their "life force" returns to God??
''Our culture has accepted two huge lies: The first is that if you disagree with someone’s lifestyle, you must fear them or hate them. The second is that to love someone means you agree with everything they believe or do. Both are nonsense. You don’t have to compromise convictions to be compassionate.''
everything has an afterlife!!!! life is life, not just human life, life!
Is it not interesting, since they do seem alive in the same manner as we are?

Do you require a soul to be alive?

Ohhhhhh, right, sometimes context is important, like when said context serves to support your own ideas, but context is not important other times, like when said context may not support your ideas? It doesn't matter, if the context does not support your ideas, you will just twist it in such a way that it can... no matter how much you have to stretch it...

You don't see the irony in your statement, that the verse needs to be looked at in it's context?? And when I ask you to GET the context, you either can't or won't.
The verse says that man's spirit goes up (I'm assuming heaven) and the beast's spirit goes down (I'm assuming death).
The context should either confirm or deny that. Is that right??

I've always maintained that context matters, I just also maintain that the context in the Bible is subjective.
