In a power outage, our cordless phones are out regardless of who has been our phone provider, Shaw or Bell.
We have a non-electric wall-jack phone that we keep as our emergency phone in our spare bedroom in the event of a power outage. We are currently with Shaw and that phone worked fine throughout the power outage. My wife was on the phone throughout the outage yesterday and was still on it when the power came back on at 9, no problems with the battery back-up or modem.
My neighbour works for Shaw and we discussed the Shaw phone back-up battery yesterday. He told me it's designed for 24hrs of back-up power. Our phone remained functional through out the outage other than our cordless phones which rely on electricity to function - not the modem's fault. As mentioned above, you may have a defective battery.

I have one corded phone just in case and it worked fine just over an hour and it was dead.....lights on a modem went out ..so I don't . Maybe something wrong with the modem
I had BELL phone for 30 years and never had a problem , never needed to call BELL for service except when I moved and that took couple of minutes..no problems.
Only reason I took SHAW phone was ...because I canceled my TV cable. So I bundled phone and internet to save little money.

We didn't loose power yesterday as we don't live in town, but my sons phone was not working - it stopped by about 5:00 pm and came back on when the power was restored in the city.

Why not just call them, explain the issue and get it fixed instead of switching right off the bat.
If I have to call everytime threre's a problem.....then there's a problem with their equipment...it's not very reliable.
I think we should let macs throw his tantrum and he'll forget all about it by Friday.
I can only think of two times in the last three years I've ever had a problem with Shaw Phone. One was when we first signed up we were getting calls for another number. That was fixed fast. Another time was when the service went down for all Shaw Phones last year. Im a satisfied customer.

We had 2 neighbours come over to borrow our phone because their shaw phones where down yesterday(yes they were corded).
Both of our POTS phones lines(not bell) where down for about a hour though.
We have shaw phone. Ours were down the whole time.
Somewhere in a lonely hotel roomthere’s a guy starting to realizeThat eternal fate has turned it's back on himIt's two a.m.
Well at least it looks like I'm not the only one with a defective battery.
I have shaw for all three services. I am never going back to bell!!!!
During the power outage my cordess phones and the one corded phone did not work. Strange how some people had phones that worked and some did not?? the type of phone maybe??

Cordless won't work no matter who you are with when the power goes out

We just switched to shaw and it didn't work either, but then again we have one cell with bell and one with Koodo and neither one worked. But next doors Koodo worked. odd but really didn't care , loved the peacefulness.
